PrincipalCruiser Posted February 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2007 We are cruising on the Celebrity Milleniuum on June 18, 2007 Venice to Barcelona. We will be in Rome pre-cruise and will travel via train to Venice to board the ship. Can anyone tell me what transportation we will need to plan on to get to the pier from the train station in Venice? Land taxi? water taxi? etc? Should we pre-arrange this transfer? Thanks for your help!!
franu Posted February 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2007 Before my Venice cruise. I read on these boards to take the train to Mestre. It is the stop before Venice. The last one on the mainland. Just outside the station is a taxi stand. Have the taxi take you to the cruise port. Settle the price first. We were dropped just in front of the baggage drop off. Checked in our luggage and walked the very short distance to the modern cruise terminal. I was very pleased by these directions. Fran BTW make certain to validate your tickets before boarding the train. There is a large fine for not doing so. They will not have mercy because you are a tourist. Bus and train tickets must be validated.

suekay Posted February 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2007 It's best to follow the advice of franu otherwise you'll need to take a water taxi from the station to Piazzale Roma then a land taxi to the port. When we tried this in September, the water taxis wouldn't take us such a short distance and we were forced to get a vaporetto
