It was on the news here in Kansas City, I want to say it was Holland or Royal Carribean, but it was 2 or 3 days ago, and I have sooooo many ship thoughts running through my head that it could have been anyone. They did say that the people were all fine, they hit an unknown floating object and the passengers were put on a ship of one of their competitors.

Was it last week's Carnival Legend cruise they were referring to. Hit by a large wave and made it list to one side. A couple passengers got off at the next port and flew home.

I was on the ship last week when it listed. It was so scary but funny. I was in the Theater when it happen like at 9am the day after we left nyc. The ship started tipping to the left which I think is port side well the side of the ship that is left when looking forward and anyway it started to tip and I thought it would come back and go to the other side back and forth since it was a nasty day outside but the ship kept going and going and going. I was standing and looking to the front of the theater and I saw the Bingo machine role down the stage with like 5 people chasing it. In the back I heard all the plates crashing and people screaming and holding on. Then it came back upright. Then someone came in the room and said all the liqior that was recived by carnival the day before was all on the floor in the galleria mall. Some people said that in the casino the machines that you put a quarter in and it pushes another and another so they come out spilled on the floor but I did not hear of anyone taking them. It was some trip

... wow... if you took that and ran with it, that kind of plot would make a good movie!

Imagine... it would kind of be like Titanic... except instead of sinking, the ship would just be hit by a big rogue wave and roll over. It would stay afloat and the passengers would have to figure out a way to make it out of an upside down cruise ship!

The 11pm news here said it was a Carnival ship returning from the western carribean. The story was brief and said a man had come up missing but there was no confirmation as to what exactly happened. The coastguard also searched the water as far north as Fort Pierce which is a good 100+ miles north of Miami. But that's all that was mentioned...Menina

Ok...the story so far......

  1. The Captain of the Legend Rammed and sank a small boat, on purpose.
  2. The Legend was then hit by a large rouge wave.
  3. The Legend rolled completely upside down.
  4. The passengers are now trapped inside.
  5. They are clawing their way towards the bottom (now on top) to be rescued.

I heard it was a Carnival ship and they had chartered the entire ship for some rich couple and just a few friends. Something about a 3 hour tour. I think they were only 7 people including the skipper. I think they're still missing and I am almost positive I saw some kind of special or something on TV just the other day.

WOW..great picture. I wonder how many barf bags was used that day.

I think we're all in agreement that the picture has been doctored LOL. But it sure is fun to throw it out there when someone asks the hurricane question!:D

Our party of 14 was indeed on this ship. We heard the man being paged all morning, up until the time they called our tag color. We did have to swipe our cards, which I never remember doing. A few days later, I was reading a Miami paper and caught the article. His name registered with me, so sad. I am sure there was quite a panic going on behind the scenes, a terrible situation. His companion must be devastated. You never think it will happen, especially on your ship.

ok...

Is this about the small Alaskan charter, that hit an iceberg, and caused a Carnival ship to experience a larger than normal list, which caused a man to fall overboard, and the resulting wave covered the entire bow of another Carnival ship, and 7 of the passengers were so distaught that they moved to an Unnamed Island in the South Pacific, and were mad because they could not remember the name of their TA,and could not ask anybody who they used...

because thats how I see it.

BTW

it was reported that a RCI hit an Iceberg with part of their propulsion system last week,no ports were missed.
