EileenN Posted February 23, 2007 #51 Share Posted February 23, 2007 There is also a cheese cart in Cagney's. Believe me I know this for a fact. PE Somehow, PE, I would never doubt you! We have talked about making use of the cheese cart after a nice meal, but never had the room.
smeyer418 Posted February 23, 2007 #52 Share Posted February 23, 2007 ....now if they would get rid of Dan Hodge at Gatsby's it would make it much nicer. We enjoyed Dan Hodge very much as he was always entertaining. He surely can get a crowd to gather around. :) Yes but its the same exact show and same jokes each night. Yes I Know somewhere beyond the sea is from a french song...yes I know if you go out for a walk after the show to wear my life jacket...Broadway showtunes? the same songs. Songs with a history the same songs. I asked for one off broadway song and he tells me about Jerry Auerback(and I saw him in the fantastics too---didn't everyone over 40?) shoreguy Posted February 24, 2007 Author #57 Share Posted February 24, 2007 Sorry to have been MIA – but fun is taking priority over posting. First of all the status of the speed issue – I can not get anyone to go on the record as far as the nature of the problem and the eta for resolution. It is funny I was waiting for our tour yesterday and one of the folks in line was busy telling his friend it was fixed. They had flow the parts to San Juan. I asked were he heard that and as usual it was from one of the folks he was traveling with who said he spoke with another person who said they had talked to some officer. I think that guy was just reading the boards. The current status as of today the contractors are still onboard and working to resolve the problem. Tonight’s update – ask any member of the crew how they are and the answer as always is excellent with a big smile. Lets go back in time. Breakfast yesterday – Eggs Benedict on time and hot. Ravi the butler has been great not that I use him much. Antigua – the same as always – get out of St. Johns . The best thing the Pearl and the Dawn were in port together for the first time. Did the usual walk thru St John first thing in the morning looking for a spot to capture a good picture of the two NCL ships. We did find where all the open sewers in the streets empty into the harbor untreated. Pictures to follow on my return. Picture of the two ships attached. Many more to follow on my return as well. Did the ATV Adventure in Antigua or should say lack of adventure. Speeds up to 25 mph. You knew it was not going to be really off road when the sweep driver was in a car. What till you see the picture of this beater. If you want a nice drive on back roads and safe to bring you kids the tour is great. I f you are looking for a kicking ATV adventure then you might want to pass. My trip was a bit different since I got to be the tow truck driver when my sons ATV died halfway. I got to hook up the tow strap and drag him and his ATV back. The best part of yesterday – the casino for the first time was very good to me. Also I have seen a lot more officers visible around the ship. We did Cagney’s again last night and the AHD stopped by the table next to ours. Just checking that things were going well. It was interesting to over hear the conversation after he move on. The passengers were so surprised and impressed. One woman said that is the first time in 10 cruises that anyone like that ever stopped by. They loved it. I got better when Calvin Lodge the HD came by a few minutes later. Next update from Barbados today – 80ft Yacht racing, and my first dinner in 7 Dawn cruises at La Trattoria

jmcdon7230 Posted February 24, 2007 #59 Share Posted February 24, 2007 ....Casino continues to be very bad to me but not as bad as it was to one guy at my table who went thru 10K in an hour. I love to hear about big drops like that....keeping down the cost of cruising!

shoreguy Posted February 24, 2007 Author #62 Share Posted February 24, 2007 Back from a perfect day in Dominica with Beno the tour operator extraordinaire. But you have to wait for that detail. Question when is a port that you dock at more like a tender port. The answer Barbados when you end up at the far outside pier position. Disembarkation was a bit of a challenge with lines packed up the stairs as they let passengers off the ship one bus load at a time. Got in line at ten for a 11 am tour. We were going nowhere. Finally they let people who wanted to walk in to move to the left side and get off the ship. I was a less the 10 minute walk and in fact we got the terminal ahead of the next bus. Many were late for their tours. Weather was perfect – low 80s – 15 knot winds- and blue skies for our Ocean Yacht race. A new tour this year buy a new company that has purchased and moved from around the world two of the ships that raced in the past round the world challenges. This company just started operating in December and they seamed to be a great group of people. Side note – ran into a couple on the tender to the sailboat and it occurred to both of use we knew each other. Turns out we meet on the Dawn Blizzard Cruise last year and they live about five miles from where I grew up. We even have mutual friends. The interesting part they were on the HAL ship from NYC that sailed the day before us. Small world. Back to the race – our boat one when the other boat missed a mark. The tour not cheap but great quality. You need to be able to move around a bit as the ship tacks. For some a nice relaxing sail at sea. For others a lifetime sea adventure. A picture tells it all – with some relaxed and others hanging onto a rope for their collective lives. I need to get ready for dinner – so I will cover La Trattoria later and then catch up with today. Seas are like glass and we are headed for St. Thomas. Sorry no picture - 5 minutes and two errors later - I have to log off. Maybe someone can add it. pgh Posted February 25, 2007 #75 Share Posted February 25, 2007 You're brillant! When you get back a thread could be started - a photo essay of sorts - that story the stupid things parents do (or allow their children to do) on cruises. Seriously though, thanks for blog, it certainly takes a lot of time, but it is much appreciated. Pam
