mbisson Posted February 28, 2007 #101 Share Posted February 28, 2007 1-4 in Semana is almost a waste of time Is that 1pm-4pm? If so, even if you're one of the first off the ship it really is a waste! -Monte

I've heard from these boards that there isn't too much going on there anyway. I'm glad your whole trip hasn't been too messed up. I'm on the next cruise on the Dawn (March 11), I wonder what changes we have in store? Are you going to be posting from onboard?

shoreguy Posted February 28, 2007 Author #107 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Dinner last night was excellent – the Bistro – Platinum perk – and the staff was wonderful. Martini clinic was a lot of fun as always with perhaps 12 from our roll call showing up. The casino once again was not very good to me. Overall it remains a positive experience. We really ended up with a bonus sea day with warm weather and enough sun for that final burn. Around 5 pm the cold front came crashing through with high winds and lightning. The seas remained calm but they did close the outside decks for about an hour. Bollywood was the show last night but just could not bring myself to see it for perhaps the 5th time. I am soory I missed the crew and staff doing the Norwegian Way. Just a note on what the crew has to deal with. Our waiter in Gatsby’s tonight as we waited a few minutes for out table in the Bistro is the proud father of a 12 day old daughter that he will not see until September. Since I still have a couple of hours of internet time I will take some time tomorrow to check the thread for questions and try and reply. Good night all. shoreguy Posted February 28, 2007 Author #108 Share Posted February 28, 2007 shoreguy-I really appreciate the updates. I look forward to sailing the Dawn someday (probably in Miami, but who know how itineraries can change) and a lot of the reason I hope to do it is due to you. BTW-Cecilia will probably kill me for asking, but with the changes allowing jeans in the dining rooms, have you noticed many doing so? And (in your opinion) has it affected the ambiance of the rooms? BTW-Cool dolphin photo! enjoy -Monte Had to log back in for this one - no change in dress code or behavior - Jeans are still listed as not allowed in the dinning rooms after 5:30 pm - two nights designated as " tonights the night to dress up" I have seen no jeans at dinner this trip. I would guess if someone showed up in them they would allow them to enter but the old requested dress code remains unchanged

The 3/1 Dawn cruise WILL be in Samana from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The information I received was through an e-mail directly from NCL. If I could figure out a way to copy the darn pdf I'd do it -- or attach it...
Maryfrei Posted February 28, 2007 #110 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Thanks again for the updates! The dolphin picture is fantastic:). I wasn't worrying about my April trip, but after these latest changes, I am getting a little nervous and will be really bummed if it is cancelled:(. Did they do the half price for early dining on your voyage? Can't wait for the rest of your posts!
snorklinbarb Posted February 28, 2007 #111 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Hi Jim, Sounds like another fantastic trip. It's always great when the roll call participates in lots of things. Can't wait to see the pictures. Is Margaret behaving herself? Keep her away from the tequila and popcorn.:D Please say hello. I don't regret missing Dan Hodge's "headliner" show! Must admit I did enjoy the "Name that Tune" contest though. Next up the Gem? Are you going to do one of the European tours/ta also? Thanks again.:)
ria926 Posted February 28, 2007 #112 Share Posted February 28, 2007 I wasn't worried about my 4/23 trip either, but after that announcement from NCL you know the ship will have to be fixed!!! And that means someons cruise vacation is going to be cancelled!! Glad you had a good time shoreguy......thanks for all the info.........

tekmom Posted February 28, 2007 #114 Share Posted February 28, 2007 We're traveling July 14-21st. I'm concerned about our time frame. With my luck, they'll do the Rosie cruise the week before, then cancel mine.. That would go over badly for the people who got bumped originally, because our trip is filling up super fast due to alot of the bumps moving to that week. Can you imagine? smeyer418 Posted February 28, 2007 #115 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Its my understanding that the problem is in the engines not in the pods. At least one of the four enginees is being repaired. The engines power generators that provide electricity to the pods(and the rest of the ship). This normally doesn't require a dry docking to repair. But I am not sure since NCL is keeping this close to its vest. SOmetimes I wish people would be more transparent what the problem is...if they know. Don Haynes Posted February 28, 2007 #116 Share Posted February 28, 2007 I would think its 7 am too, three hours isn't enough time to even bother making a stop, considering Samana is a tender port.

Big Al B. Posted February 28, 2007 #119 Share Posted February 28, 2007 If it is diesel problems, they will more than likely keep working on it on the fly. My nephew used to work for Wurtsilla, the company that makes many of the marine diesels. He was based in San Juan and often he would ship out on a cruise so they could work on the engines at sea. The ships have a bit of a redundancy for this.

That is unless they're reversing course on that one. I can live with it either way, but some consider the dress code of utmost importance. -Monte
