londonbridges Posted February 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2007 My kids are great cruisers, but the Alaska trip won't have the pool time we've used to amuse them in the past. Any recommendations of which ship to choose? We're flexible on dates and departure cities.

One of the pools is covered and she swam every day. :) And, she absolutely loves, loves, loves Camp Carnival. Cheers! Jayne :)
cacruiserjen Posted February 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2007 We cruised Alaska out of Whittier on August 1st 2 summers ago. We went on the Carnival Spirit and we had hot temps in the upper 80s and even up to 94' in Ketchican!!!!! Seriously! My kids put on sweatshirts one morning - in sitka - and had them off an hour later. They swam daily in the outdoor pool and were highly disappointed that they do not open the waterslide on Alaska cruises - has to do with environment issues or something we were told. We will be cruising Alaska again this summer - July 10th - out of San Francisco - on the Dawn Princess. You should join us (see my signature). lumpkin Posted February 24, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2007 I took my 2 girls, then 9 and 12, last year on the Celebrity Mercury. It was late August, and the weather was great most days but they used the indoor pool, which was barely used. Also, the kids club was great. rebeccalouise Posted March 1, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2007 I have sailed on NCL and Princess Alaska. My son loved the program on Princess but I like Celebrity the best. Celebrities program has longer hours and they take the kids to dinner so you can dine in peace. I think the "Fun Factory" on Celebrity is better than Princess. Given the choice of Ncl, Princess or Celebrity- I'd go with Celebrity.
