campesino Posted February 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2007 We just completed a cruise in early February. If you are looking for a reef snorkelling/stingray alley tours I can highly recommend Star Tour that operates out of the Tropics Hotel on Caye Caulker. They have great people (Vido ran the trip, Michelle was very helpful getting us set up when we arrived). Boats are uncrowded (unlike the ones from the ship) - we only had 4 on our boat and Vido led us through the coral formations pointing out all sorts of great things. A nurse shark encounter (friendly) was one of the highlights. When we got back to our ship, we discovered that we had lost a set of prescription glasses. Upon arriving home we conracted Ramon at Startours and he found them. Fedexed to us and received by the end of the week! I think the cruise ship tours pale in comparison to what we had. They load their boats to the max and seemed not to go to the best places. One suggestion, however. At Belize, make sure you get on the first tender - tell the purser's office that you must catch an early private tour and be assertive. The sooner you catch the water taxi to Caye Caulker the better. Star Tours - a winner!
wimberleydlc Posted February 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks for the info. I have just emailed them to see if they can accomodate our group of 4. We will be in Belize on 3/12/07 on the Grand Princess from 1p - 7p. The time we will be in port seems a little odd. I'm used to arriving early in the morning and it seems that most tours go out in the morning. I'm anxiously awaiting their response.
