Janespup Posted February 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2007 Hi, Could anyone tell me what is the closest NICE beach to the port in Nassau? We are hoping to go to the beach in the am and Atlantis after late lunch on the ship. Thanks.
cruiseobsessed Posted February 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2007 We have always gone to the beach in front of the Sheraton Hotel. I don't even know if it's a Sheraton any more. We get a taxi at the pier and it takes us to the pathway beside the Sheraton. You can rent umbrellas, chairs, etc and get goodies from the snack bar. There are people who offer to braid your hair, etc, but it's not too obnoxious and they go away with a polite "no thank you". There are water activities there such as the banana boat, etc. and the beach is very nice.
cdngb Posted February 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2007 We took the boat taxi to the Atlantis and went to the public beach to the right of the hotel. It leaves close to the ship, just ask. A lot of people do the same. There was not a sign to the beach, so just walk through the trees. You can rent a chair. There was a reasonably priced convenience store on the right side of the street as you go towards the casino. It's less than a ten minute walk from where you get off the taxi. Good luck. Janespup Posted February 27, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 27, 2007 Thank you so much. I will look into both. Would it be a real pain to go back and forth to Paradise Island twice in a day, once for beach going and once to go to the casino later on? I tried to book a room at Atlantis for the single date that we will be in port and wasn't able to.
bguppies Posted February 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2007 I tried to book a room at Atlantis for the single date that we will be in port and wasn't able to. Did you also try the Comfort Suites next door? Many book rooms at the Comfort Suites to use the Atlantis facilities..... Bill
asoutherngal Posted February 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 27, 2007 The British Colonial is within walking distance of the port--they charge $15.00 per person--full use of pool, beach chairs and water toys (rafts, pedal bikes, etc.) and the food at the pool bar is very good.
