Suggestion while in Vancouver

Along with the usual points of interest like Stanley Park, Gastown, Grandville Island, Chinatown, etc.,

A budget minded way to quickly tour Vancouver and the surrounding suburbs (known as the lower mainland) is on Skytrain. Skytrain is the region's rapid transit system which runs almost entirely on elevated guideways. Passengers have mostly unobstructed views of the city and the surrounding scenery. It's about a 50 kilometer round trip and takes maybe an hour and a half.

Another scenic mode of transportation is the Seabus which travels back and forth from the Vancouver waterfront (near the cruise terminal) to the North Vancouver waterfront at Lonsdale Quay.

Both the Skytrain and Seabus are wheelchair accessible with stations located very close to the cruise terminal.

Good suggestions.

I do have one question though.. How do you get to either from Canada Place if you are actually in a wheel chair..??

You can access either at Waterfront Station, which is one block from Canada Place. Shoud be no problem in a wheel chair.

Thanks... I had never seen anything from the Canada Place area other than for us mobiles.

That's a bit of a trip to Waterfront in a wheel chair from Canada Place. Getting there would be easy. Coming back a bit of a climb for the pushers.

I was thinking more in terms of those with power chairs or scooters. The Seabus would not be appropriate for a person pushing someone around in a wheelchair as there are many ramps and thresholds to deal with. A wheelchair bound person with good upper body strength would have no problem. Skytrain is a little more accessible, with elevators and level platforms.

No matter which direction you go from the cruise terminal, you have to deal with hills. At least the hill on the way to the Waterfront station and Gastown is only about a half-block long.
