 What is the least amount of money that you have taken on a cruise and still had fun?

My brother and sister-in-law to be have decided that they are going to get married before our cruise on 5-20-2007 and we have to buy a $150.00 dress for me, A $150.00 tux for DH, and a $70.00 dress for DD. These prices do not account for the shoes that we will have to buy for myself and DD, and the price to get our hair done. This will cut into our money that we will put back for the cruise. We dont have a whole lot of money due to the fact that we have bills we have to pay.

So i was just wanting to know what was the least amount of money that you guys have taken and still had fun on the cruise:cool:

The money you spend depends so much on what you want to do. Figure out what you plan to do and how much you think you'll need. I usually plan on about $50 per adult per day, and $25 per kid per day (excluding excursions). This takes care of drinks, souvenirs, gambling, etc.

Big expenses are Drinking,Gambling, Shore Excursions and Pictures. It you keep those to a minimum, you can get by pretty cheaply. They say the best things in life are free :D Some people can be happy just being on the ship...So I dont know how to put a dollar amount on fun. I typically spend $3-500 on a 7 day cruise.

You should be ok with $500.00, remember 70.00 of that is your Tips leaving $430.00.

Look for my "Live from the Spirit" in April as that will be a Budget Test cruise, Im going to try to keep it under 300.00, 140.00 of that are Tips already so I can play with 160.00.

70.00 for Supper Club

30.00 for Cabo

30.00 for La Paz

30.00 for Mazatlan

wish me luck :D

Think of it this way:

Big drink of the days were a little over $8.

Little drink of the days were a little over $4.

How much do you drink? Are you getting a soda card? Can you go without soda for a week or bring some with you? You are also allowed to bring your own wine. We brought 4 bottles for 2 people for 5 days. Should of brought more :D

Casinos have penny slots if you just want to play for fun.

There are tons of souvenirs on the boat for $10 or under. I walked off the boat with 8 bottles of booze and a sparkly purse for $92 total.

Shore excursions vary. I don't know where you are headed but hanging out at the beach is inexpensive. We were at Grand Cayman, our taxi was $12 each (we tendered on the other side of the island that day) and we spent $5 each at lunch. For my next cruise we have shore excursions at $60 a day per person not booked through the ship.

I hope that helps! - Kim
