taszmom Posted July 31, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2004 Do you mean on the cruise? Make sure CCL has your past guest number noted on your reservation. (If you don't have it, call CCL Guest Services or your TA to get it.) Then you will automaticaly get the invites in your stateroom of the activites going on. I hope I understood your question. stlrboo Posted July 31, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2004 Truthfully, I was a 'past guest' on my cruise in April, and I checked in at the hotel prior to boarding (did a pre-cruise night in Miami at the Hyatt), and forgot to 'check' the box that I was a past guest! :( There was so much going on that I totally forgot after boarding, and didn't realize I missed anything until after the cruise. I believe it's hors 'd vours and a drink or two prior to dinner one night.. not much else, unless you are with a group and they arrange special activities.. I've heard that other lines are better to their 'past guests', but as long as Carnival keeps beating them price-wise, I can do without the frills!! :)
Cotton Posted July 31, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2004 There is only one activity scheduled exclusively for past guests. It's the Past Guest party, which is very nice. It is similiar to, but on a smaller scale than, the Captain's Welcome Aboard party, which everyone attends. It's usually held in one of the lounges one evening (no certain night). It could be held in the afternoon, OR between the two dinner seatings, OR before early dinner seating. I asked the CD on my last cruise, and she said they determine the time and place sometime after the cruise gets underway. The party itself is nice. The ones I've attended have been: The Captain and CD greet you at the door, the CD taking up the invitations. The Captain hands you a ship's pin and welcomes you back to Carnival. There is a combo playing, and some folks dance. The Captain gives a little 'welcome back' speech, and draws a name for a bottle or two of champagne. Servers walk around with trays of various cocktails, wine, and hors d'oeuvres. The party lasts approximately an hour. (Sometimes they show a short video of Carnival ships, but not always.) When you get your docs, there will be a card (boarding pass?) that has a little box in the right-hand corner asking if you are a past guest. If you are, check it. You should have an invitation delivered to your cabin the evening before the party is to be held. Some folks don't think it's such a great thing - but it's just one thing Carnival does NOT have to do, but does, and I have always enjoyed going. Everybody at the party seems to be having a wonderful time. So, don't miss it!:)
M.S JAZO Posted July 31, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2004 I was on the Legend last week and they did the same thing. A party in the theater. Its nice and everyone talks about there past cruise and they give you pins so you can make a collection of all the ships you go on with the pins. It lasted 45mins. Hey I dont mind going. Something else to do on the cruise.
tef43 Posted August 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2004 If you do go, do not forget to have one or two or ten of the BLUE drinks!

luv2travel! Posted August 1, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2004 I am a past guest, but this will be my cabin roomie's first cruise. Will she be able to attend the past guest parties with me? Gina
jcanino Posted August 1, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 1, 2004 I am a past guest, but this will be my cabin roomie's first cruise. Will she be able to attend the past guest parties with me?Gina Yes she will. Your cabin steward will deliver an invitation to your cabin and I am almost positive it says you may bring a guest. As you walk in they do not check your invitation or your name on a list. Just take her, don;t worry about it and enjoy the free drinks.
Beffy1167 Posted August 1, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 1, 2004 For our cruise in February, I was a Carnival past guest, but DH was not. The invitation to the party had only MY name on it and did NOT specify that I could bring a guest. I brought him anyway--figured if they wouldn't let him in, it wasn't worth MY time either. They took my invitation, never even looked at it, and let BOTH of us in. My point is, even if the invitation does not specify that your roommate is invited, take 'em and have fun! And while you're there, have one of those pink "fun ship specials" for me!
sls Posted August 1, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 1, 2004 When do they arrive in the cabin? Our last cruise we never received an invitation even though we are repeat cruisers and had notated it during check in. sls
Cotton Posted August 1, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 1, 2004 sls - I've heard a few other past guests say they never rec'd an invitation, either. It's obviously just an oversight. And the bad thing is - unless you DO get your invitation, you don't know when the party will be held (there is, understandably, no notice in the Capers). Next cruise, you might want to double-check at the purser's desk on the first/second day to make sure you're on the list. (Oh, and my invitations have never mentioned a guest.) pastorped7 Posted August 2, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 2, 2004 I was wondering if they also had non-alcoholic drinks. My wife will indulge, but I don't.

txsmiles Posted August 3, 2004 #17 Share Posted August 3, 2004 We will be a group of 6 in 3 cabins... two couple are "past guests" and the third is not.... will our friends be able to come to this party with us? I'd really hate to head off to something fun (and free) and have to leave them out of the party!
parmus Posted August 3, 2004 #18 Share Posted August 3, 2004 I also heard that if they forget you and you go to the purser's office and tell them, they will send a bottle of champagne to your room as an apology!
Cotton Posted August 3, 2004 #19 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Txsmiles -I may be in the minority here, but..... The couple who has not cruised Carnival before can go to the party on their next cruise. (Surely they can have a little fun in the casino for 45 min. or an hour w/o y'all?) To me, it's sorta like something you've earned.:)
GoinCruisin Posted August 3, 2004 #20 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Cotton, You are not in the minority.... I agree. Tx, there is so much for the other couple to do, and it will only be a short time. You guys will all have the captains party you can enjoy together. You just have to plan a trip together after this one so you can all enjoy it together next time!! It is something that is earned and if you bring another couple, someone else would want to bring one, and so on and so on... You guys will all have a great time!! Enjoy! mohavemommy Posted August 3, 2004 #21 Share Posted August 3, 2004 When do they arrive in the cabin? Our last cruise we never received an invitation even though we are repeat cruisers and had notated it during check in. sls When we booked we told our TA that we were past guests and she took down our past guest numbers and gave them to Carnival when the booking was made. We got our invitations, no problem..... :) Didn't have to check any box at check-in.
Cotton Posted August 3, 2004 #22 Share Posted August 3, 2004 The little box that asks the question "Past Carnival Guest?" should be checked when filling out the forms Carnival sends (part of your docs). Everything should be filled out before leaving home - not at the pier during check-in. Even though every booking agent should note past guest status, there are some who simply forget to do so. The box should be checked, as requested.:)
dms_cruisers04 Posted August 3, 2004 #23 Share Posted August 3, 2004 FYI to all you past cruisers. We found on our last cruise, that if you sit at the bar during the party, you can have anything you'd like - even as good as the blue drinks are - we stocked up on Jack & Coke. tef43 Posted August 3, 2004 #25 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Isn't there some sort of publication past guests are supposed to recieve??? That would be "Currents." It took me about six months to receive the first issue. Some past guests claim to have *never* received one.
