thanks Josie....was there a disco at night for the kids?....can't imagine him just hanging with us all night without him being bored to death and he won't know anyone on the ship his age...i was under the belief they had a teen club

This is the "I know you folks already know this" but I want to just repeat it for emphasis.....

Especially those kids under 15, parents please have "the talk" with your children about safety. These ships are the size of small towns and while the staff and crew are all checked out....you never know who is in the cabin next to you. There have been several child molestors recently whose computers had pictures of them on cruises, buying young kids alcohol (and the kids probably did not even know that it was alcohol).

Late at night, make sure they have several kids to hang with. These perverts go after the easiest target ...don't allow your child to be that target.

Folks get the "Disney World" mentality when they are on a cruise....but the dangers are still very clear and present.

I know what you mean. There were a group of 7 kids (10-14) that were hanging together in the stair going to Deck 3 FWD. There were asking anyone who walked past if "they wanted to hang with them". I told my daughter she was not to hang out or go anywhere with them.

At least they were being quiet and not running up and down the halls. I went and fixed a bag of Halloween candy for them share.

While club 02 is for the 15 to 17 year old, the camp carnival 12 to 14 year old group usually get to spend an hour or two in the electricity disco each evening. The disco will be open for only the 12 to 14 year olds until 10 PM. After 11 PM no one under 18 is allowed in the disco.

We had 2 12 year olds and one that had just turned 18 but acted 12 while on vacation! They were not allowed anywhere no matter what time to be themsleves, we wanted to give them some freedom, lets face it at that age no one wants their parents around, but you have to always remember safety first. They were told 1 screw up and you will enjoy the rest of the week with the parents, we didn't have any problems what so ever. There were alot kids hanging on the stairs late at night, don't know why but I did notice that several times.

What is the best way for my grandkids to swim with the dolphins in Cozmel? And we want to go to the park with them. Thank You

You can either book through the ship or book on your own. If booking on your own go to http://www.cozumelinsider.com/Dolphin This is the Dolphin Discovery Cozumel at the Chankanaab Park.

Book early because it is a popular excursion.

Hi Mindi,

You will need a light jacket as it will be chilly at sailaway if the current weather stays. Also some of the public spaces are on the chilly side.

Nov 4th will be formal night so you will want something dressy that evening. Also by that evening it should have warmed up outside.

There will be a lot of information at first. Just dont let it overwhelm you. Pick up a copy of the Carnival Caper's in your cabin. It will have a schedule in it of all the ship's activities.

The first day onboard you want to go to the Lido deck at the rear of the ship for lunch. You can go to your cabin at 1:30pm. Walk around the ship exploring. Dinner is at 5:45, 6:15, 8:00, and 8:30. Look on your sail & sign card and it will tell you which restraurant, dining time and table that you have. There will be a welcome aboard show at 10:30pm.

Hi y'all, I am new to CC so please forgive me if I have overlooked a post answering this question. I was on the Fantasy for the Aug 25, 2007 sailing, we are now planning to go again on the Feb 18, 2008 sailing, we would like to book a suite. Has anyone squeezed 4 adults into a suite??

It probably will be done on the night you leave Progreso. When we sailed on the Fantasy last year on Oct 30th, they moved the Halloween stuff to Nov 1st so that it would not impact formal night on Oct 31st.

The suites are large on the Fantasy. With four people you will have to book at Cat 12. A trick some have done is book a Suite GTY if it is cheaper. Since only 3 can be booked in a Cat 11, you will get an automatic upgrade to a Cat 12. I am seeing a $250pp savings on a couple of websites for 1st/2nd and $30pp for 3rd/4th.

We had four people squeezed in an OV. You will have a lot more room (330 sq ft) than we had (185 sq ft).

Would it be safe to book the 1 pm dolphin swim and what is the best way to the park ferry or taxi?

You won't need a "ferry" because the dolphin swim at Chank Park is on the island of Cozumel.

A taxi will run you about $12 (one way) for a party of four. And 1pm should be fine. Just verify the port time when you arrive as opposed to ship time.

sometimes they are off an hour!!

For Progreso it would depend on what kinds of things your son enjoys. Would it be possible for him to think the ruins were interesting? I'm not sure! That's what I would suggest, but I don't have children and I never was a boy so.. ;) In Coz you might consider doing the dolphin swim...but again it all depends on what he is into.

OV cabins...well, they are like the insides except they actually do have a window behind the curtain! LOL We were in M123 in September for 10 days and it was great.

I like the Main Deck because it is primarily blue in the corridors, which I found a bit more pleasing than red, pink, or salmon. Our location was nice and quiet but within easy access to all 3 sets of elevators. We were above and below other cabins. My only complaint is that the second sailing whoever was above is was quite loud but that's a risk with any cabin!

And DAVE! I am cutting in here to tell you to get good pics and really try everything on Spirit next month! We'll be sailing her in February! In an AB suite!! I can't wait.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled Fantasy thread! LOL

Congrats on the first cruise, you'll love it.

In Progresso I do not recommend the Merida city overview and shopping excursion. The first part of the tour was nice enough but the "reputable" shop that they took us to shop at was a joke. The man that I was speaking to about some onyx items quoted me a price and after negotiating for a better price I agreed to purchase the items, I should mention that I was having a blonde moment and did not use the correct conversion math in my head. Long story short I did not purchase the items and then found the same things at the souvenier shop at the Progresso port for $1 each....he was going to charge me $12 each.

My friends went on the horseback riding/beach break in Progresso and loved it.

In Cozumel we went to Chankanaab for the GPS treasure hunt/snorkeling adventure. Will go there again and again. It was beautiful!! The guide was great his name was Rene' I think. The treasure hunt part was fun but very hurried, you did not get a chance to really absorb all of the botanical park. I water was great, very clear and when you get done with the snorkeling you can use the beach area to swim or sit under the palm trees, there is a place to get food and drinks, they also have a very nice swimming pool right next to the dolphin experience.

We were the second Fantasy cruise to Progresso after Costa Maya was damaged in the hurricane so we did not have much info on the excursions.

Hope you find this helpful.

Another suggestion in Cozumel for a 14 year old, if they are into water toys, is Paradise Beach. There is no entrance fee. The lounge chairs, tables, umbrellas, clean restrooms and even the internet at the bar are all free.

They just ask that you eat/drink while you are there. And they offer an optional $9 wristband that covers the iceberg, water trampolines, kayaks, snorkeling, floats for the day. Our two boys always get the wristbands, hubby and I do not...we are shade people!!

The taxi to Chank Park is around $12 one way for 4 people. The taxi to Paradise Beach runs around $15 one way for 4 people. Always lots of taxis around to take you back to the ship from both locations.

Food and drinks at both are good and safe!!

Have a great cruise and a wonderful day at my favorite port (which we will be back again in 44 days for the umpteenth time this year) !!!! yeah!!!

Progreso stick to things that do not have to do with the water other than Cenotes. The water clarity will disappoint you compared to Cozumel.

The only balconies on the Fantasy are in Suites. The ship was built before the current craze. Because of this, they are larger but more expensive.

We had R46 OV this past Oct 11th. My girls liked the window because they could watch the spray off the bow when the waves started kicking up a little.

jetskier...I have a question. If you are on the Atlantic deck up front in the shopping mall and you want to go to the AFT dining room...is there a way to get to the AFT dining room without having to change levels or going through the FORWARD dining room?

I have vied the deck plans several times and do not see a way/path/route to go from the FORWARD part of the ship to the AFT part of the ship on the Atlantic deck aboard the Fantasy without going through the FORWARD dining room.

Thank you for your help.

Don,

This is the same on a majority of ships. The reason is that the galley (kitchen) is in between both dining rooms. If it was not designed this way, they would have to have seperate galleys and more personnel.

On the Fantasy, you could take the middle elevators up to Deck 8 and walk forward through the Celebration dining room to where the Atrium is. But you would not be able to do this to get to the Jubilee dining room in the Aft.

We are cruising on the Fantasy Dec 20-24. How formal is formal night on the 4 day cruise for men.

1. Can they wear a shirt, tie and slacks or is a jacket necessary? Also can men wear jeans to dinner on the casual nights? I only ask this because I have heard that this ship is more casual and laid back and I just want to us to be dressed appropriately.

2. I play Flop Poker in casinos in regular casinos-do they have this on the Fantasy? Also do they have Wheel of Fortune type slots?

3. This is our 5month-belated honeymoon. Do they do anything special for honeymooners?

4. We will be onboard til Christmas Eve-I hope this is a special honeymoon/holiday for us

Thanks for any tips or advice-:D
