Fantasy Only Questions ...

We are cruising on the Fantasy Dec 20-24. How formal is formal night on the 4 day cruise for men.

1. Can they wear a shirt, tie and slacks or is a jacket necessary? Also can men wear jeans to dinner on the casual nights? I only ask this because I have heard that this ship is more casual and laid back and I just want to us to be dressed appropriately.

Shirt, tie and jacket would be fine. Jeans are frowned upon but I see a lot of folks wearing them.

2. I play Flop Poker in casinos in regular casinos-do they have this on the Fantasy? Also do they have Wheel of Fortune type slots?

They have a Texas Hold-em table and 3-card poker table. They have several bonus screen slot machines.

3. This is our 5month-belated honeymoon. Do they do anything special for honeymooners?

Nothing special is done. Sorry.

4. We will be onboard til Christmas Eve-I hope this is a special honeymoon/holiday for us

Christmas decorations and program will still be happening. They get the kids from Camp Carnival to participate.

Thanks for any tips or advice-:D

Have a good cruise.

Dave

Has the excursions available aboard the Fantasy changed since the Sept 2007 listing? Is the "Ruins, Mexican Buffet and horse show" available? Anything new been added?

Thanks.

Don

Hi Don,

Carnival's website is showing seven new excursions. Dzibilchaltun Ruins, Mexican Buffet & Horse Show is still shown as being available.

I had went to the Carnival web site and seen the same thing. But the reason I asked was the URL of an earlier posting in September of the excursions available while aboard ship did not mention that tour. ...AND seeing how you had just returned from aboard the Fantasy I figured you would have the answer. :)

Thanks again

I just realized that on our April cruise we'll be platinum. We normally do self-assist so that my husband can get home and get to work (last time he was able to get home, shower, and get to work by 9 AM). I'm wondering if we should just do regular debarkation once we're platinum and get the vip perks, or is it worth it to just skip that and stick with self assist? It seems that so many people do self assist, even with VIP debarkation we'll have to wait a long time to get off the ship. Any experience with that? Dave, I bet YOU know!

Hi Susan,

Congrats on finally getting Plat. You will receive a letter in your cabin the last night. In it will be #1 luggage tags. Ignore the other luggage tags that was left in your cabin. You will have two options:

1. Self-Assist Meet in the lobby on deck 7 on the port side (where the couchs are) at 7am. You will be some of the first ones off. I normally get there at 6:40 and wait along the wall between the atrium stairs and the wall right before you get to the opening to the normal elevators/stairs.

You will find that it is going to get crowded with people who dont listen or follow instructions. I am usually in my car by 7:30.

2. Turn in your luggage. Meet in the library (or where the letter states) at 8:30am. A crew member will come meet you and escort you off the ship. Your luggage will be in a #1 spot in the terminal.

Self Assist Debark starts at about 7:00 AM +-. Regular Debark (mean you left your luggage outside your room the night before) starts at about 8:30 AM. Most passengers are OFF the ship by 10:30AM and thru Customs by 11:15 AM.

They also offer a Platinum Self Assist. We did this on the Victory and it was wonderful. We all met up at 7:15AM with all our stuff and they escorted us off the ship.

 You are not going to believe this!! We paid a deposit last week and I have the confirmation that Carnival faxed out TA. WE paid deposit in cash and go the receipt as well. Carnival says they never recived the deposit which my travel agent overnighted to them. She said in all her many hears in travel thishas never happened before. We had a Cat 12 penthouse suite and were so excited because this is our honeymoon(5 months belated) and my DH very first cruise. THere are no more Cat 12 available but they do have a category 11 suite-they say it is the same but just a bit smaller and it is own the Verandah deck. The odd thing is that we made final payment in full today and the TA called me a few minutes later to tell us about the missing deposit that Carnival never got. Now our TA is giving us back a savings of $400 and something dollars for the stateroom price difference. Should I be this upset(cause I feel sick) or is there not that much of a difference in these suites an be glad we saved another $400 to go towards other stuff on the trip? I dont know what to do. Thanks for your advice because I know nothing about this ship.

You will find that the Cat 11's are a little more exclusive because of their location Deck 11 (Veranda). The Cat 12's are on Deck 6 (Upper) which means everyone with OV's and IS's are walking past.

I would take the money and enjoy. If the travel agent overnighted it, there should be a tracking number. Next question is why is the TA sending cash in the mail. They should have sent the funds via company check.

If you will go to the board for Carnival chat you will see what the TA has done for me to make up for all this-Go to Carnival board-and click on LOST RESERVATIONS-it has been a busy thread all day-should be on the first page still. Thanks

We have twice stayed in a Cat 11 and recently down graded from a Cat 12 back to 11 when our fourth guest declined on the Freedom. In looking at the website http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/ it so didn't look like it was worth all that money for a bit more room inside and a bigger balcony. Enjoy the extra money on your belated honeymoon.

My wife, son and I are embarking on our first Cruise on the Fantasy out of NOLA on 9 Feb 08 after I get back from Iraq.

Jetskier, you aren't going on that one, are you? (Sempre Fi)

Has anyone gone in Feb before? Weatherchannel.com says that Cozumel should be in the low to mid 80s. How is the water in the Gulf this time of year: rough, calm? I love a good roller coaster ride, but my wife gets seasick.

I'm thinking of wearing my Dress Blues (I'm Active Duty Army) for formal night. Do other service mebers wear theirs?

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin, I am addicted to this board so I am becoming a plethora of knowledge-lol Yes, I have read on several other boards and have also seen many posters pictures-and lots and lots of people wear their military dress-=it looks awesome. And you should wear it with pride!! Thanks for your hard work for our country! Also, try ginger for the motion sickness-found in health section of Walmart or health food store. Bonine is also good, but take it before bed each night to prevent drowsiness. Start taking these remedies a couple of days before you leave. The arm band is good also and I hear that it works if you start feeling queasy(others are a preventitive and may take to long to kick in)so wear it all the time or just wehn you may need it-it is all natural and involves accupressure. I would really research the patch that goes behind your because it can cause severe side effects in some users--go to the board on "Cruise Questions" and Beauty and Attire" further down on the main board that lists all the boards and you will find lots of info on the sea sick meds and military dress. Also, hope you got the military discount. Good luck and God Bless.

Thanks, April

what can i do about my meds that needs to be refridgerated?

You need to contact specialneeds@carnival.com.

There is a form you can fill out so that a fridge can be provided during your cruise. However, sadly the number available is limited. On the off chance, that all their fridges are reserved ... they will also provide a cooler and keep it iced at all times.

As with anything to do with the weather...it is hard to predict.

We have been to Cozumel at almost the exact same time on different years and had completely different weather. One end of December was COLD...the other was warm and perfect.

Check http://www.weather.com for a Cozumel prediction and go from there!!

SandySoldier, I cruised the Gulf on the Holiday this past February. We had one rough night because of an earthquake off the coast of Cuba. The rest of the time was smooth sailing! We're leaving on the Fantasy again the end of this month.

Enjoy your cruise and thanks for your service - by all means wear the uniform!
