BrendaB1 Posted June 29, 2008 #1901 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Ok i have a question and i cant find the answer thru search lol. i was wanting to know a little about the mardi gras pub crawl. last year i was so overwhelmed...i was too chicken to do it. so which night is this? can any age go or just adults? i know my 16 yr old cant drink but didnt know if he could go along with us. do people dress for it or just wear anything? thanks and sorry if this has been asked before It's a great way to show everyone the variety of music available on the ship. Starts at piano bar, then moves to casino bar, Cat's Lounge & then the disco. Big Tex usually leads the way & sings a song or two at each stop. dan110 Posted July 1, 2008 #1903 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Still looking for a recent Fantasy cruiser that took a hard sided cooler through carry on. Mine is slightly larger than the new 12 x 12 x 12 size restriction and I'm wondering if I will have problems. Mine is 12 x 16 x 16. Never had a problem getting it through carry on before. Wondering if I will this time. Dan

Anyway I see you guys are booked again in April of next year, SO ARE WE. 4/18/09!! What date are yall going? Looks like you guys go every 6 mths huh? WOW what fun!! TnWildcat Posted July 6, 2008 #1906 Share Posted July 6, 2008 I have a group of 20 women booked for the 12/04/08 cruise. We are calling it our Mother / Daughter & Friends Cruise. Anyway, since gas is so high, we were trying to find out if there was a shuttle or bus that we could book for all of us from Memphis to New Orleans? I know there is the Amtrak option, but we didnt want to add an extra day to ensure we'd get there on time. Any ideas? Thanks!

I know there is the Amtrak option, but we didnt want to add an extra day to ensure we'd get there on time. Any ideas? Thanks! To travel the same day as the ship leaves? Memphis is a good 400 miles / 6 hrs away. I'd be coming in the day before - or at least the night before. But that's just me. What if there's a breakdown or an accident that closes the interstate? Checked Greyhound and that won't work. Travel time is over 10 hrs and you don't get in until 6:15pm. Amtrak - is almost 9 hrs of travel and gets you in to New Orleans at 332pm - too late to make the 'board 2 hrs prior to sailing' cut-off time. Amtrak is about $100 and Greyhound $119 r/t. A charter will be expensive. (We looked at chartering a bus to go from our hometown to the cruise port (about 30 miles away) for our group and it would have cost $1600!!!) Looks like unless you drive yourselves, you'll need to come in the day before. Kathy
TnWildcat Posted July 7, 2008 #1908 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks Kathy for all the info! You are probably right, it might be best just to drive ourselves. This is our 5th time to leave out of New Orleans, but we have never had this many going at one time. Thanks again!

We will have done 3 this year, but so far only one in the works for next year. Have to watch the rates and make a decision about next fall. We usually go around October when we can. First we have to see how our kidless vacation at the end of this month goes - if it's as fun as I anticipate, we may skip a cruise next year and just do that again! DBXX Posted July 7, 2008 #1910 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Yes we will definatly have to watch the rates for next year. Hope you guys do make the 4/18 cruise. See we should have made it a point to meet and hang out b/c we are going to be on a second cruise together and dont even know each other, lol.... We just had such a good time last time. BrendaB1 Posted July 7, 2008 #1911 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Looks like Fantasy will be in port when some of us past Fantasy cruisers are getting together in Nola 8/23. Too bad we can't get on that ship but atleast we can watch it sail away without us while visiting with our CC friends. If anybody is on the 8/23 sailing, let us know & maybe meet su for a drink. MESPal Posted July 8, 2008 #1914 Share Posted July 8, 2008 I just wanted to thank you, again, for the directions to the terminal in NOLA from i-10 West. They were great and we had no problems (except for the dump truck driver who balanced his truck on the concrete median and tore up the entire front of the truck...totalled the truck and blocked 6 of all 8 lanes for a while). We had a great cruise and are now planning another cruise on the Glory for next summer. Thanks, again. Missy

A flat bed truck had hit the back of an 18-wheeler pinning the driver inside. They were in the process of shutting down the interstate right as we went through. MESPal Posted July 9, 2008 #1916 Share Posted July 9, 2008 We received a notice in our room during the cruise (6-28) that we would get a port surcharge refund ($30 for us) on our Sail and Sign account. It never showed up. Should we contact Carnival or will it show up as a refund on our VISA card? Does anyone know? Thanks, Missy

It should have been shown as an OBC on your S&S account. It would have been easier for you to get it cleared up while you were still on the ship on the last day. Make sure you keep a copy of both the letter and your S&S account final tabulation when you are asked to provide the information. You will need to contact Carnival's Customer Service Dept. Cheetah474 Posted July 13, 2008 #1919 Share Posted July 13, 2008 hi everyone, Our family is doing a cruise for the 1st time in 32 days. Through a variety of reasons I'm now the contact person and have just received cabin assignments. I've never cruised before and the Carnival.com website is totally wacky today. So we're all in category 6D on the Empress deck -- everyone with a window. How do I know if the cabins are any good or if I should try for upgrades? Where can I get info about the layout of the ship other than the carnival.com page. Thanks in advance - I know these questions have been asked a million times before but I just feel a bit overwhelmed today.

The only cabins above that are suites and the price jumps accordingly. Here is the link straight to the deck plans for the Fantasy. http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=FA Dave

I sail on the Fantasy Thursday and was wondering what it the best time to arrive at port and what time do they typically start boarding? Thanks. LA Lady Posted July 15, 2008 #1924 Share Posted July 15, 2008 We were i E66 a few weeks ago. LOVED it! Great location....walk out the door, turn right, and there was the big atrium...bar, elevators, pursur's desk, etc.... Up one deck was the Universe lounge and gift shop. Where on the ship is your cabin? We hardly felt any movement in the room. Just a gentle swaying at night. The only time we really felt the boat moving was the last night at dinner when we reentered the Mississippi. hi everyone, Our family is doing a cruise for the 1st time in 32 days. DBXX Posted July 15, 2008 #1925 Share Posted July 15, 2008 We just got off the Fantasy in New Orleans and we ended up getting there way to early, like 9:30  hopeing to get on early, BUT they dont start boarding till 11:00 so for our next cruise we arent getting there till 10:45 - 11:00, we are not going to go after 11:00 since we dont want to get stuck in the crowds, when we started boarding the crowds werent that bad, but it still took a while to get on the ship. I think we were on by noon and we started at 11. Danielle
