maja Posted March 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2007 I am planning on spending 2 days in Ischia (near Capri) post cruise. Cruise ends in Civilechia. What would be the best way to reach Ischia? I see there's train service..would luggage be a problem carrying around? I know there's a ferry from Naples...about how many hours away is Naples from Civilechia? Naples to Ischia? How much travel time needed to return to Rome airport from Ischia? thanks

winewanderer Posted March 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Hi, I can answer a couple of your questions. Your travelling to Ischia from Civitavecchia is a long journey. Civit. to Naples is about 3 hours, longer by train. Then you'll have a 1.5 hour ferry ride. The walk from the gate at the Civit. port to the train station is not a problem provided you don't have a lot of luggage. I've done the walk but only had a carryon size rolling bag and a shoulder bag. I haven't been in the train station in Naples but understand it is a hike from the ferries. Of course you could find a cab. We took the public ferry to Ischia in Naples (Caremar (sp?) was the service. It is 1.5 hours each way from Naples. Ischia is beautiful by the way. We loved it. We purchased 2 roundtrip tickets, it was cheap, total of about 20 euros. The ferry left Naples at 10:00am. There was a return at 2:00pm and one at 6:00pm. I think that's generally the daily schedule. Or it was in May 2006. Hope this helpls a little.
