Will Nextel Walkie Talkies work Aboard ship

Going on Legend and wondering if Nextel will work or should I take my 7 mile walkie Talkies??

Cell phones (including Nextel) won't work once you get a few miles out to sea.. I used mine before we sailed off... but once you get away from the towers, they don't work....

We took the walkie takies, but after the first day didn't use them, they were more trouble to us that they were worth, but a lot of people with children had them, We kept changing the channel, but I still kept getting someone else.

 

we didn't have any kids to keep up with, so we just did the post-it-notes when ever we went in and out of the cabin.
