Any dining options when first aboard?

When boarding the Freedom, we've read over and over here that this is the best time to try the Flowrider as many won't have their baggage yet.

 

Considering we'll be traveling the entire morning just to get to the Freedom, I think we'll be nearly starving. Are any of the food venues on the promenade open during embarkation - or is it just Windjammers?

 

And is it really a good time for the Flowrider? Any experiences?

I know on the Explorer the Windjammer was open, and the promenade cafe.

The Windjammer will be open. Lots to choose from.

Windjammer for a quick bite and by then the cabins are usually ready, so we then head to cabin and drop off our stuff.

the windjammer will be open for lunch the day yopu get on the ship...but you will not get your bags til mid to late afternoon...make sure that you pack your pool stuff in with your carry on's...

The Windjammer will be open but the grill and maybe the pizzeria will as well if a buffet isn't your thing.

When we boarded Freedom, we headed to Sorrentos for Pizza, and cafe promenade was open as well. Plenty of choices other than windjammer, which is open as well.

We were like you and travelled all morning to get aboard the FOS. We were straving. I can't answer your questions on what else is open, but Windjammers is and the food was plentiful.

 

As for Flowrider...you might be better off to wait till later in the week....most of the time you have a 20 minute wait between turns. Not too bad, and it is well worth it if you can hold on for a bit when your turn does come along.

 

AS for luggage...we didn't receive our actual luggage till later in the day, but we were bale to drop off our carry-on into our room when we got aboard.
