Will I be disappointed if I cruise on the Estasy after the Conquest?

I am planning on cruising on the Estacy on July for a 5day with my older daughter and sister inlaw. Will I be disappointed in the smaller ship after being on the Conquest??

Is there a huge size difference? What about the number of shops onboard,things to do etc.???

Also ,are the cabins smaller than the Conquest??

Quite a few of us prefer smaller ships. Better chance to get to know other cruisers and crew. I find food and service just a bit better. No significant difference in cabin size. Plus, on Extascy you get to visit Progreso/Merida and the Yucatan state. To me that is another plus.

NO...you will not be disappointed. I have cruised on both ships and loved them both. I was worried just like you are but to my surprise I did even fell like i was on a smaller ship. The ship is all remolded and looks new. Now when you arrive at the Pier and see the ecstasy next to the conquest do worry but it will look like a ant next to the conquest. The gym was the only thing that i felt was allot smaller. I loved our inside cabin on the Ecstasy much better than the conquest the layout made it feel a little bigger and new flat screen TV's were cool. The only thing i didn't like about the Ecstasy was you have to carry a different room key and you can't view you bill on the TV screen. Other than those little difference you will love the Ecstasy, I would sail her again in a heart beat.

The Ecstasy is one of the Fantasy class ships, which at 70,000 tons is not small. These ships are pretty much just a 1/3 smaller scale equivalent of the Conquest class, with virtually identical layouts. Stunning show room and atriums are here, too, only complaint is a bad sight line on some 2nd story seats in the show room.

 

The main differentiators, though will be the main pool is smaller, since the slide takes up about 1/3 of the pool (on Conquest ships the slide empties into a water "runway" instead of the pool), and there are not the decks and decks of balconies that Conquest has. Ecstasy is primarily an inner/outer cabin ship with less balconies. Also won't have the premium $20 restaurant, and the gym will be smaller. But otherwise, amenities will be the same including shops, activities, etc, and the cabin sizes will also be the same.

How bad can it be spending 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 (ya get the drift LOL) or more days on ANY ship????????????? :D ;) And how bad can it be cruising the Caribbean, Mexico, Northeast, Northwest or Alaska or anywhere else, come to think of it? :D ;)

Look at me, I have been at sea since 1912 and I have loved every minute of it! :D

 

Go cruise and enjoy every moment of it,, NO MATTER WHAT SHIP YOU"RE ON!

What about motion? Any more noticable on the smaller ships?

 

Once you get around 70,000+ tons you won't notice much. Here you're talking 850 feet long, and even the 140,000 ton ships aren't much longer (900-950 ft), just higher and wider!

Try over a 1000 feet in length for those 140/160,000 ton ships and it does make a difference. Even the difference between a 70,000 ton and 90,000 ton can be seen and felt.

Gosh, I wasn't. We cruised the Conquest in November and the Ecstasy in February. I fell in love with the Ecstasy. Her crew is fantastic. Darcy, the Cruise Director, is excellent. Truthfully, I know the Ecstasy is supposed to be smaller than the Conquest but I honestly didn't notice it. Ecstasy is a fine ship and I think you will have a blast like we did!!

I sailed the Conquest in December, then the Ecstasy last week :D Were they different? Sure...but were they different in a "bad" way? No. LIke mentioned earlier, the Conquest has way more balconies (we paid a high premium for a balcony on the Ecstasy since only the suites have them) and the Conquest has some more restaurants (PC Woks, Sur Mers, The Pointe? specialty restaurant) and the casino/nightlife area seemed bigger, but I had the time of my life on both ships: I'd sail either again in a heartbeat!

What I was trying to say was there is a threshold where you get to the 'acceptable' stage, and that begins around 70,000 tons, (CCL Fantasy class, RCI Majesty OTS) unlike some of the 3 & 4 day ships still out there in the 45,000 range...so the Ecstasy trip she was asking about meets this requirement.
