nucruisers Posted March 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2007 We're new to cruising and to Alaska and have booked a NB Mariner trip in the later part of May, '07. I've booked a 6 hour "bottom fishing" trip from Sitka (through Regent) and wondered if anyone has info relating to this excursion - such as who the preferred local vendor might be, sea conditions, best footware for the excursion, etc. Many thanks for insights/thoughts. MamaQuack Posted March 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2007 We booked independently in July with Sitka Charters. We wanted to salmon fish. Our boat and captain were assigned once we tendered in. We had Cap. Mike of Swell Times. He said they do both independent and ship excursions. His boat and many we saw were better suited to 4 or 5 guests. There were some bigger boats with larger groups doing more of the bottom fishing. We lucked out and got a beautiful day and lots of salmon. Captain Mike said he had caught nothing in over a month so we felt very lucky and blessed that he knew where to take us.
