Calica/Cancun

Hi:

Anyone know of a nice beachside resort that has a pool, restaurant/bar in Playa Del Carmen that permits cruise ship passengers to use their facilities for some $$?

Also, we have never sailed on Carnival so we have no idea what to expect in regard to service and the quality of the food, evening shows, etc... We do have a suite booked, so we'll see what a Carnival suite is like. We are sailing on the Celebration. Anyone been on this ship?

we were on The Celebration last march, loved it an older ship but very clean and the staff was the best can't help with Calica though we ahd gone to Paridise beach in Cozumel the day before LOVED that sooooo much,we didn't even get off the ship the next day,the port was very ugly compared to Cozumel, just a lot of rocks and aome shopping tents thrown up along the shore. Maybe someone can offer a suggestion about this stop as we are going back again in Dec. but on the Ecstasy. Wish there was another port.

We sailed on the Celebration in June 03. Enjoyed the ship. Yes, it was older, but had been recently renovated.

At Calica, we took a cab from the dock to downtown for shopping and beach time. The beach was fine, not necessarily outstanding. Beautiful water. Seems like we paid $5 for taxi ride each way for 3 persons.

I did not hear of any resorts that open their gates to cruisers. Hope you find one!

If one of your destinations is Calica/Playa del Carmen.......

Calica is only an ugly rock quarry and a few vendor tents. That's really it! Lots of cabs waiting to take you to Playa del Camen, about a 10 minute ride. In September, it was $10 per cab.
