traveller4fun Posted March 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Has anyone gone scuba diving in Vila? My hubby and I both dive and we were wondering if anyone has dived here, and if so, did you book with P&O or arranged your own dive? Any info would be much appreciated. We have booked The Sun for 11/04/07.
lolliepollie81 Posted March 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2007 I did the introdutory dive last may in vila. arranged through P&O. they crew/instructors were fantastic. I would reccomend going with them. They also took certified divers at the same time as our group. The twin bombies are fantastic
ChrisBNE Posted March 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2007 My wife and I dive too, I am doing the dive with P&O this time, but you can also take a taxi bus to Hideaway Island where they do similar dives and its reasonably priced. If you email them they will send you heaps of info. I'm not diving through them this time because of time restraints (my wife wants to explore Vila, rather than dive all day :( ) From memory they do a dive early and up to two in the afternoon, so you can almost squeeze in three dives, but i think the later one is too late for most cruise departures. There are quite a few dive ops in Vila, I would say most would be more than happy to accommodate you. http://www.hideaway.com.vu/ http://www.bigbluevanuatu.com/ http://www.nautilus.com.vu/scuba.htm
traveller4fun Posted March 19, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Thanks for the great info. I am now going to email them. Hideaway Island sounds good. We would like to dive early so we can also do some shopping and looking around so one dive would be sufficient.
czardas Posted March 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2007 Hi, my husband did the wreck dive in February arranged by P&O. He said that there was about 8 people that did this dive from the cruise ship. The people on the boat were good, the boat was decent but the dive was predictable. About 3 from our group did the introductory dive at the reef and my husband said that when he finished the wreck dive, they then swam over to the reef and that was pretty boring. I suppose it all depends on your level of diving and what you have seen before. I remember he did this dive years ago and a lot of time was wasted as they couldn't find the wreck. This time they went straight to it, so it just depends on the day.
