Parking at the hotel and Port Everglades??

This is our first cruise in several years and our first to leave out of Port Everglades. In the past we have been able to leave our car at the hotel for the week and take a shuttle over to the port without any additional cost from the hotel. Have any of you ever done this? Is it better/safer to park at port? Any hotel recommendations for this?

Embassy Suites on SE 17th Street offers this. We used it in February. Parking was supposed to be 9 dollars per day, if you self park. I wound up only paying 8 dollars per day, for a spot in the front area of the hotel. The shuttle to the pier was 6 dollars, and cab back, we did not want to wait for the shuttle, was about ten. Worked very well for us.

The LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Hollywood and the Hilton Garden Inn in Dania Beach both offer the Park, Sleep and Cruise package with parking included in your room rate. You must book through parksleepandflydotcom though. ;)
