Helmet Diving - 3/23/07

We just returned from cruising to Cozumel. This was our first cruise and so unlike many others we had never been to Cozumel before and weren't sure what we would want to do. We chose to do the Helmet Diving through Sea Trek (www.cozumelcruiseexcursions.com). We were weary when we first arrived but ended up really enjoying it. They bring the fish right to you - so close you will touch them! We also got to hold a sea urchin, a star fish and some kind of stick like crab. We then did snorkeling with Mario (included with the tour - just be sure to tip Mario). He took us a little further over where we saw a lot of coral, many more fish and even a barracuda. It was a lot of fun. Our other views of this port are that it reminds us a lot of home - which is near Destin, FL - lots of tourist shops and condos! I guess we'd call it Destin - Mexican style.

what are your thoughts on this for non swimmers?

For non swimmers the helmet diving is perfect because you are going to be walking at the bottom of the ocean, but if you want to try snorkeling i wiil recomend you to contact mario he will teach you, he has a lot of patience, he takes even disabled people is email adress is snorkelwmario@hotmail.com
