Is there any reason why being in the UK means I can't use a US cruise agency to book our NCL cruise?

Your TA's seem to get better deals than there in the UK and seem to specialise in just cruises whereas here, they do everything!

Yesterday and today I read the posts about passengers in the UK and OZ that get ripped off in either price, obc, upgrades, etc. I think that is disgusting. You and I should all have the same opportunity of these. It is like us Canadians that cannot enter contests in the USA. Totally unfair. I hope enough of you speak up and be heard and maybe someday that will change their policies. Fight, Fight, Fight.

!

no, I tried that for our upcoming NCL Pearl cruise,

I booked through NCL , but the booking engine only goes to a certain point, then it says you have to contact a travel agency in your part of the world, to finish the final booking etc..(they give you a few to work with),something to do with currencies and so on, so , no, we can't get any good deals or upsells, OR EVEN obc etc, if we don't live in the US..

Sellers of Travel have enough to do to keep track of laws in the US, without risking running afoul of the law in other countries, of which they are totally ignorant. (in other words, would it be legal, in your country, for an agent from the US to sell you a cruise?)

I know, for instance, that price changes and such are dealt with here, routinely, in a way that would be considered a breach of contract in the UK.

Further, problems with currency conversion/fluctuation would be something only the very largest Travel Agencies would be equipped to deal with. So you would have to be prepared to submit US funds. They also would be ill-equipped to advise on Customs/Immigration issues. So, again, you would have to be prepared to take full responsibility for that.

And, finally, what would you do, if the agency defaults? Are you prepared to come to the US to sue them? You likely would have no luck enforcing any action against them in your home country.

I am not saying it cant be done, I am just saying - take a good hard look before you leap.
