How is the traffic in Miami on the weekends? I've never been there--but here in the city it can take a hour to travel 5 miles if you get stuck in gridlock.

Its dead Sunday Morning, that when we took the rental back and took a shuttle to the Terminal, No cars on the road around 10:30am

 

But we arrived Friday and it was a mess.

Depending if you are using 95, on a Sunday morning it should be fine. If it is a weekday, ugh, I do not miss 95 southbound. Where would you be coming from, and what day?

Beware of SR-836, the Dolphin Expressway, especially around MIA (Le Jeune Rd) area. That area can become extremely congested any and every day of the week. I would always go out of my way to SR-826 (Palmetto Expwy) b/c it saved me a LOT of headaches. Agree w/ the other poster that I-95 S is usually slow on wknds. Northbound isn't too bad, though. You'll move pretty slow on Ocean Dr and Collins Ave, too.
