Transportation from Ft. Laudeerdale to Miami and Return

We are cruising on the Norwegian Pearl the end of December 2008. We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale and need to get to the Holiday Inn Port of Miami and then at the end of the cruise from the port in Miami to the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Does anyone have any idea on the best, most reliable and most economical way to do this?

This must not be an easy question. You would think they have something better than an $80 taxi.

We rented a car so we would have it to travel around Miami the day before our cruise.

It's easy getting to Port of Miami with the Tri-County Airport Express shuttle for only $18 per person. Getting back to FLL the most economical route may be the cruiselines shuttle bus, time consuming, but econmoical none the less.
