Last minute questions before the Alaska Cruise on Oosterdam

Beverage - I want to mix up what I drink, cocktails, wine, soda,(Leaving DH at home and traveling with FIL so I will need a drink now and then ;) ) will a prepaid ship credit work for all or should I purchase all the drink cards individually, or just use my ship account?

Smoking- My last cruise on Princess to Alaska many years ago, I'm sorry to report was that all I remember is there were people smoking everywhere and no where to get away for fresh air(smoking in dinning room and elevator). Nothing against it but are there areas where one can get away from the smoke for awhile.

19 days and counting !

I've got the excursions booked and ready to pack! Thanks All:D

Most of the public rooms are non-smoking, including the DR and elevators. The casino can get rather smokey but they do have smoke free nights. Many of the bars and lounges only have smoking at the bar, not in the surrounding areas such as the dance floor or small private tables.

I really don't think you'll be bothered by smoke. Just remember to cross the pool deck on the non-smoking side for instance. The smokers have been quite considerate, and almost all of the ship is smoke free.

Just order any beverages you like. You don't have to arrange that in advance. You might want to buy a wine, soda, or coffee card when you get there, but only you will know if it fits your needs.

You must be so very ready for your cruise. I am always excited when I have one so near. Have a great time! Thanks for posting. I hope you let us know what you liked best.

Thank you all for your response.

Things have changed in cruising since my last one about 10 years ago, and I did enjoy that one. (It was a very short one from Vancouver to Ketchikan 3-4 days if I remember right)

DH is laughing at me because I am so excited about this trip. :D

I think I have resarched everything I can. Now all I can do is count the days.

I think we are on the same one.

First sailing to Alaska out of Seattle. May 5th!:D

I am traveling with my FIL so it should be a very interesting trip.

DH is staying at home to babysit the dog. :o He was very dissapointed in our Princess cruise many years ago so this is a scouting mission. If I approve of it I might get him to go on HAL next time.
