quickrate Posted April 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2007 This is for anyone in Vancouver that can help me with a transportation question . We're wanting to go from Vancouver to Seattle by ferry. How do we do this?I know we have to go to Victoria first and then board a ferry to Seattle. Do we arrive in the same terminal as we depart from or are they two different ferry terminals? Is this a difficult thing to do? We'll be dragging alot of luggage with us as we will have been on a 12 day cruise. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Pat
cruiseryyc Posted April 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2007 Why do you want to do this? You can easily catch a bus or train from Vancouver to Seattle. Anyway to answer your question. The ferry from Vancouver to Victoria lands at Sidney which is about 30 minutes from downtown Victoria which is where you catch the ferry to Seattle. You can get a bus in downtown Vancouver which would take you to downtown Victoria, which would leave you with a five block walk to the ferry terminal. Another option would be to fly from the Vancouver downtown harbour to Victoria's harbour, but that's more expensive.
quickrate Posted April 17, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted April 17, 2007 thank you for the quick reply. We thought it would be a nice ferry ride from victoria to Seattle and very scenic but maybe its going to be alot of hassle. Dragging luggage from terminal to terminal sounds difficult. Not sure now what to do!
cruiseryyc Posted April 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2007 One other thing I forgot to say is that the ferry terminal in Vancouver is about 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
weathermom Posted April 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2007 It would be a hassle with all the luggage without a car, but very doable with a rental car & some of the companies (national & alamo I think... maybe others too) waive the drop off between the 2 port cities of vancouver & seattle. drive from Vancouver to Tsawwassen (1/2 hr to 1 hour drive depending on the traffic) & take the ferry to Swartz bay www.bcferries.com it's about a 1/2 hour or 45 minute drive into Victoria from the ferry ( ... the road to beautiful Butchart Gardens is about 1/3 of the way into Victoria) from Victoria, take the coho ferry from downtown Victoria to Port Angeles WA http://www.cohoferry.com/ then drive the Olympic Peninsula & Puget Sound to Seattle. it's a favourite weekend journey for locals (who complete the circle by driving back up to Vancouver). If you were to do it in one day, it's possible, but it would be a long & tiring day imho there was a discussion about this route... check out the link below, but do the route in reverse http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=526245
