Which island is best for scuba diving??

I was just wondering which island would be the best for scuba diving? And second best?

 

I am visiting Costa Maya, Belize, Cozumel, and Cayman Islands in May.

Best is a subjective judgement. It will depend on the individual and what they are looking for in their dives.

 

For a beginner, I'd probably rank them:

1. Grand Cayman for both the easy of the dives and the quality

2. Belize - also easy diving, but more difficult logistically or more expensive if you go with the ship's excursion

3. Cozumel - excellent diving but due to the ever-present current, not the easiest place for beginners.

 

I'd make it a beach day in Costa Maya at the fishing village, Mahahual.
