Formal Night

Get some dry cleaner bags and put the dress inside and make sure it is at the top of the suitcase. Another option get a soft garment bag (nylon) put the dress in there and carry it on the plane as your carryon. The stewardesses should have a closet they can hang it up in.

I never take mine out of the dry cleaner bag when I get it back after cleaning. The only time I ever wear it is during a cruise so that works fine for me. I have a wheeled garmet bag that's too large to check, but keeping the dress in the dry cleaner bag keeps most wrinkles out anyway. A little Wrinkle Release after unpacking takes care of the rest.

It's "Flight Attendant"

and be prepared to put your formal attire in the overhead bin if you are sitting in economy. The closet, if any and depending on which type of aircraft you are on, are used by first class passengers.

A garment bag is the best way to get your outfit to the ship.
