When we were on the Ecstacy a couple weeks ago we came across some stairs with a gate at the top that read "Only 21 or older allowed past this point". The stairs were next to the basketball and volleyball court at the very back of the ship. I assumed that area was top optional.

I don't think they have a place like that on Ecstasy anymore. I think I have read somewhere on this post that's it's gone. Just the B-ball and V-ball courts. Unless those are topless also.

But I could be wrong.

When I was last on the Ecstasy (March), the funnel deck was no longer a top optional area. They had removed the privacy tarps from the railings...but I didn't go up there.

I'll be on her again later this week and will take the trek up the stairs and check it out.

Did they have guitar hero on the ectasy? My son is 12 and loves to play guitar hero. He doesn't care much for Camp Carnival but I am hoping to entice him with this. :D

Did anyone ever find out if there was guitar hero on Ecstasy? My son and his friend love it.:D

I started a thread in the general forum and then remembered this thread was most likely the best place fir this question......My hubby is a football fanatic and has a couple of games he is interested in while on our first cruise in October. We are sailing on Ecstasy. Does anyone know what channels are offered? :(

From what I recall when I sailed on the Ecstasy this past Jan. I didn't notice a 'sports' channel, but I don't watch sports much.

Mainly ABC/CBS/NBC. I do think there was a movie channel, might have been TCM channel and either Nick or TVLand. There was a music video channel, but most of the music was rap or hip-hop on it.

The ship has more of their own channels...showing the 'fun stuff' going on the ship. For example: Pool-side Hairy Chest Contest, Talent Show, and some type of Marriage Game that went on in the main theater. One of the ship's channel was so boring cause it had the cruise director just yakking most of the time about stuff to buy on the ship and excursions they were pushing. However, with all the ship's own channels....there wasn't one that showed the ocean/bow of the ship with the weather/wind/sunset or sunrise times/info like on some cruise lines. No menu channel either.

Hope this helps.

Hi randykaye ~ just curious how you liked your cruise...we go on 8/25 and are really excited about it. This is our first time to go, anything you can share about the experience?

Our kids bought us the cruise for our 30th annv and got us a guarenteed suite, what kind of room did you have?

thanks, midlifecruisers

Corn,

I'll have new 4 night Capers when I get home next Monday (7/23). I will scan and post them ASAP for you.

What kind of excursion are you looking for? Any children? Age range of those in your group?

We did the Power Boat excursion in Cozumel a few years ago...it was a BLAST! (Sis-o-Stir and I...40 and 50 years old!) Two person power boats, zooming along the coast of Cozumel to a private beach area. Food was served, but no alcohol. Then back along the coast to the starting point. Lots of fun!

Lots of beach clubs on Cozumel to choose from if you just want a beach day.

See the photos in my sig (Hdawson's) of the Progreso, Merida area.

Stircrzy, Thank you!!! I can't wait!

We are traveling w/ 3 other 30-40 yo couples.

Two couples have never been to Cozumel. Us and the other couple were there last November and we did the Dune Buggy excursion through RCCL. It was a blast!

The snorkling was not the greatest but ok.

This is our first Carnival cruise ...so we are clueless as to what they offer.

I would really like to take the ones who have never been to the other side of the island and there are several of us who want to snorkel.

We are wanting to pick out our excursions now and would really like to look over some recent Ecstasy Capers.

Thank you!

We are headed out in a few weeks and on our 2 previous Carnival cruises we had a little basket in the bathroom that has some samples of toothpaste and other items. Do they still do that ?

The DW was reading other threads saying Carnival no longer does this on all ships.

Not a huge deal but we liked them and was wondering if Ecstasy still did this.

Hi!

Thanks to all for the advice, tips, tricks and pitfalls to look for... We just got off the Ecstasy on 7/19 after 5 days visiting Cozumel and Progreso...

We stayed on the Upper Deck, aft (U151). It was a very typical inside stateroom. The bedding was very comfortable. The room was always VERY cold, until we figured out the box on the ceiling was an A/C vent and the unmarked dial in the center regulated the airflow. duh! There was a small basket in the bathroom that contained samples of several items (toothpaste, Bounce, hand lotion, etc.) Edi, from Indonesia, was our steward and although we didn't see him often, our room was always well taken care of. He was a master of the towel animals and we always had a full bucket of ice.

Karen ordered room service (she was craving a PB&J sandwich) and was disappointed as the bread was a little crusty (stale). We had the late seating in the Wind Star dining room and only chose to eat there on the first night. We were seated with several couples who were 20 years our senior. The food and service were very good. We could have asked to be reseated at another table, however we were happy eating at the sushi bar and the pizza bar. The sushi bar offered 4 types each night and it was all you care to eat (they lost money on me)! The sushi bar is located near the casino and the Metropolis bar. The pizza bar was in the Panorama grill and was very tasty!

Imade was a bar server on the Lido deck and was AMAZING! We met him on the first afternoon and he remembered our names and had our drink order down. A simple nod or wave and we had cold beer and strawberry daiquiris on the way. The availabilty of deck chairs was NEVER a problem (although sometimes the poolside chairs were taken) and we didn't see any chair hogging. The pool was salt water and the line for the slide was never more than 4 or 5 people long. The volume of the music on the Lido deck sometimes made conversation a little difficult, but overall it was a good selection of tunes. A security guard was never far from the pool, and was very vigilant for the underage drinker and other youth oriented misbehavings. It was a little frustrating to not be allowed to have a drink while lounging in the pool / hot tub. sigh.......

The casino staff was very friendly and always smiling - maybe because we paid them dearly each night! The slots were tight, but the table games were very open. I saw a lot of first time players sitting at tables and the dealer was always very helpful and offered assistance to explain the rules.

We enjoyed the social staff - they were always friendly and would stop and make time for conversation. The trivia games were a lot of fun.

In Cozumel, we did the Parasailing and the Adventure Park Zip Line and Snorkeling. The Parasailing was GREAT! It was about an eight minute ride that was GORGEOUS! The Adventure Park was great for us, as we like to rock climb and have done this type of thing before. The guides were great with the newcomers to the crag, gently encouraging and pushing people to build their confidence. The snorkling was EXHILLERATING!

In Progresso, we did the Beach Break Resort at the Reef Hotel. It was wonderful to lay on the beach and do nothing for 3 hours. Drinks were included, but the beer came in small glasses and the daiquiri's were not very strong. The lunch buffet was OK. They had chicken fajita's, hot dogs and burgers. Overall, the food was a little disappointing. With all of that being said, I would still recommend this excursion.

One downer that I have is the automatic gratuities. I have no problem paying gratuities automatically added in for the drinks and cabin stewards, but I did have a problem paying gratuity when purchasing the soda cards. It took the lady sitting behind the table 1 minute to write the charge slip out, write two names on the back of the card and tell me to have a nice day... $8.25 in gratuities for two soda cards is ridiculous!

We have cruised HAL, NCL, RCL and now CCL. The cost of the CCL cuise was much lower than the other lines, however we felt that the quality didn't suffer because of the price. It was a very casual cruise.

We will definitely do this cruise again!

The Society Bar (Promenade deck, aft) has TVs, but they were always tuned to ESPN World. Football, aka Soccer, was the sport usually covered.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad! I mean I know he wants to see his games, but ummm.... I don't want to be stuck in the cabin.
