bookwoman Posted August 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2004 Thinking about booking the 8 day cruise to Mexico in late October and wonder what condition the Spirit is. I would appreciate any and all comments about her condition lately. We have been on Carnival, Royal Carribbean and Holland America and enjoyed them all. SSSkipper Posted August 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2004 I was on her in April to Hawaii for 12 days and I also was on her two years ago on the same Mexico route. She is great and in good condition still. She looked exactly the same in April as she did two years ago. I am thinking about booking her again for the Mexico itenerary because I really enjoyed different ports in Mexico. I think you will have a great time.... Fondy Posted August 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2004 We just returned from Alaska (7/28-8/4) and I thought the Spirit was great. Of course, we were first time cruisers so we didn't have anything to compare it to. But we did spend a lot of time walking around the ship and the worst thing I saw was some stains on the carpets (which is no different than my living room!) Personally I could do without the cheesy murals in the Empire Dining Room, but that's just my opinion. What I did like about the Spirit was that it never felt crowded. Maybe that had something to do with the Alaskan itinerary, but we could always find a viewing point on Lido and we rarely had to share the outdoor pool. Our balcony room appeared very clean and the bedding and towels did not look worn.
dotcruiser Posted August 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2004 We were on the Spirit 2 years ago. Unless something drastically happened to it, it was beautiful. I loved that ship. It was big and roomy and clean and fresh. We had the best stewart, can't remember his name. We booked a balcony and was worth every cent. We went to Alaska. I loved the early morning coffee we ordered the night before and there it was first thing in morning, knocking at my door.....heavenly sitting on balcony in their robes looking at that beautiful scenery. The dining room decor is somewhat tacky but so what. I loved the atrium and the friendliness of all the staff. I loved having tea in the afternoon listening to a relaxing piano player out in the open seating area. I liked the rooms, they were fresh and clean. I'll be going again to Alaska to see the other half we missed last time.

justme_123 Posted August 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I cruised the Spirit in February to Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize. I thought the ship was in excellent condition for her age. The look of her is just beautiful and not "gaudy" like some of the other Carnival Ships. This ship is set up nicely where all your cabins are up top and all of the resturaunts, casino, clubs and etc is on decks 2 and 3. It made it easy to get to everything. The ship was spotless. No dirty carpets, or dirty elevators that I have read about on other ships. All in all this is my favorite ship so far and I have been on 8 cruises, but the spirit is just spectacular. I am sure you will enjoy your cruise with her no matter what.
Frequent Floater Posted August 9, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Bookwoman I got to tour the Spirit with my TA last April and thought she was in great shape. Not as "neon" as some of the other ships. Since the rate for a balcony cabin is only 760 and a 100 shipboard credit we booked Nov. 9-17th on the Spirit. I have lots of info on the Spirit and the ports of call if you want to eme. Really excited about some new ports of call finally and no air since San Diego is our home port... rdonte@cox.net
