Pacific Sandy Posted May 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Hi - We are doing a Transatlantic/Southern Caribbean cruise on the Legend of the Seas in December which ends in the DR (Santo Domingo) We are thinking about staying in the Punta Cana area for a few days post cruise. Can anyone recommend a resort to stay at. Also, what are the realities of the DR? We don't like being in areas with lots of poverty, begging children, stray/sickly animals. What can we expect. Thanks

golfy Posted May 7, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2007 Hello Pacific Sandy Punta Cana is our most favorite place for a land based vacation. There are so many resorts to pick from. The following is a list of 5 & 6-star resorts. Barcelo Bavaro Palace-5 Paradisus Pinta Cana-5 Sunscape Beach Punta Cana-6 Iberostar Bavaro All Suites Resort-6 Rui Palace Punta Cana Ginger & I have been to Barcelo Bavaro Palace 4-times, and its are favorite. Most of the resort require at least a 3-night stay. All the resort in Punta Cana are All-inclusive, which includes all meals,drinks..(free booze),dips, room & taxes. Have not stay in La Romana, but we have friends that just return last week. They stay at the Sunscape & love it. Hope this ino helps. Paul
