Rental Car pickup at Port Everglades?

We will be arriving early on a Sunday morning into Port Everglades, and our flight out isn't until 8:00 p.m. (cheapest option). We would like to rent a car at the port if possible, and drop it off at FLL later in the day.

 

Has anyone done this?

Alamo and I'm sure other companies have pick up vans that circle the pickup area at Port Everglades. I have always had reservations but there are usually signs reading 'cars available.'

 

It is a short ride to the Rent A Car area and then you can bring the cars back anytime and then get a free ride to the airport
