I was on my balcony on the Sovereign of the Seas the morning of May 2nd in Nassau when a hearse pulled up to the Elation docked beside us, and a body draped in red was carried off while passengers were reboarding on the same gangway. Does anyone have any information on the circumstances?

If I read correctly, it was a 35 y.o. male who was snorkeling. They don't know if he drowned or had a heart attack or stroke. Very sad. Apparently his wife and child[ren] were up the beach away from him and someone told them. I can imagine that emergency medical assistance out of the U.S. is not very good, especially in Caribbean ports of call.

Didn't I read somewhere there's an average of 2 deaths on every cruise?

MrPete, ya should have been on the 3-week Panama Canal cruise we just returned from on the Princess Regal, was told that the average age on that sailing was 79 years!!!!!!!!!!!! A real, er, "Killer", pardon the pun. :D :D
