The Hilton Riverside has a $99.00 one-night special that includes parking at no extra charge during the cruise. Anything else anywhere around the French Quarter is pricey. A suggestion for parking is the Fulton Street Garage,it and most other areas charge $12.00 per day.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Select. It's just across from where the ship docks. A few blocks from Harrah's. Price a year ago was about $100 and you could also stay in their parking garage during the cruise. There are also shuttle buses that would stop at the hotel and take you around town. If I remember right there was no charge for this service. We went down to the French Quarter and spent some time. Very interesting. It was really nice to throw open our drapes the in the morning and see the top decks of the ship we were sailing on from our window. We sailed on Conquest. I would guess Holiday would be at the same dock. Have a great time!

i posted a cruise special that a hotel in NO is offering - um, Hotel Maison or something...but anyway..i had posted it here but someone told me to post it under ports - new orleans...so it is there now.

it was a really good deal with $5 per night parking.

Also, you could priceline the hilton for $45 - 50/ night and then use the parking at the port for um, maybe $13 per night? i am sure someone knows the right amount. you will have to play with the numbers to see what is best for you in the long run.

If you do the $99.00 special at the Hilton Riverside you do get 7 days free parking while on the cruise - but they told me you do have to pay for the one night parking for the night you are staying - which runs $22.00. Still not bad.

Some have said you don't get the free parking if you use Priceline - so be careful. I think you have to book directly with the hotel to get the $99.00 (plus $22.00) deal.

At the Holiday Inn Select - Did you have to pay for parking for the night you stayed? Did they shuttle you to the pier? Is it close enough to walk back if you drop the luggage off first?

I would check out some places to stay in the Metairie area. They offer free parking, have great rates, and you can take a cab to the ship. Car a lot safer in Metairie. Shoneys on Clearview (yes it is a hotel), Hampton on Causeway or the one in River Ridge, Ramada Inn on Causeway.

We're also on Holiday departing 10/4. We're staying the nights before and after cruise at Doubletree Lakeside in Metairie, on Lake Ponchartrain about 8 miles from port. They have a park-and-cruise rate, though we are using Hilton points for free nights, and paying $6 for self-parking during the length of cruise. We plan to taxi/shuttle to port.

The Hilton Riverside is walking distance to the pier. You can even see the ships dock from your hotel room. Harrah's is right across the street from it and has the only casino in town.:D The Galleria mall is right next door to it. But if you want to book the "cruise special" the hotel doesn't always give it to you. You have to call Hilton's main number instead, it's: 1-504-561-0500. This $99 cruise special is for one night only though.

Another place to check for good prices on hotels is at this website: http://www.nomcvb.com/travelagent/cruisedetails.htm. This is a website that the New Orleans Convention and Visitor's Bureau designed for travel agents detailing the hotel specials for cruise passengers. There are some very good specials here. Some include free parking, shuttles, and free breakfast. And they are all pretty nice hotels.

Parking at the port in the parking garages that are provided there is $12 a day. Most everyone else is that price too. I would go to the ports of call section here on the boards and click on New Orleans. There's a lot of hotel info. there on New Orleans. Good luck!:)

And if you're looking for a hotel that is boutique-ish or victorian, stay at The Hotel Monaco in the downtown area!!! The Monaco is such a cute and unique hotel. Very high modern and upscale-ish. I love the Monaco. I stayed at the Hotel Monaco in Seattle too and it was just as great. It was under $100 on hotwire.com in the downtown area with a "B" for boutique as part of the description. Or at the Le Pavillon (very old victorian and boutiqe-ish), still under $100 on priceline.com. We walked to the pier, which is a 10-15 minute nice walk. Or you can take a cab too. My recommendation to you is reserve a room in the morning on priceline. Prices seem to drop in the morning.

Thanks Guys.......the info you have gave me i know will come in handy.....i am going to try some of the places ...... i didnt know the hotels would let you park if you stayed with them.......that is a plus....id much rather do that i think than to leave my car at the port. Has any of you gone on the Holiday before......this is the first time on that ship.....we have been on the Sensation, Imagination, and the Paradise......i know she is a older ship....but we just enjoy cruising.....i know it will be different on a smaller ship....but i think it will be a change of pace.....hope its a good trip.

We parked in the off-site parking garage which is right next door to the hotel. The off-site parking is $7.00 per night. We did drive to the port and park on the lot there. This was a big mistake. They wouldn't let us on the lot until the passengers from the cruise the previous week had cleared the lot and the wouldn't allow a line to form. I believe we paid $60.00 to park there for the week. We wished we had dropped our luggage off and went back to the parking garage by the hotel. But we would have had to had someone wait with the luggage until my DH could walk back to get on the ship with us. They wouldn't let us begin check in unless the entire party was there. The walk would be rather long since you may have to walk around the convention center. I don't know, but there may be a way to walk through the center to get to the other side. Maybe someone else knows about this. The address of the Holiday Inn Select is 881 Convention Center Blvd. I would stay there again. The web site says there is a complimentary shuttle for distances within 1 mile of the hotel, but I don't know if they go to the port. The port is definintely within that 1 mile. If you don't have to walk around the convention center, you are about a block away from where you will check in.
