Table for 8 or Table for 4, better service.

First cruise with Celebrity was Merc, just the two of us, so we shared a table with 3 other couples. They were very nice and fun, and we had a great time. Dinner service was great, but I think our wine steward was over stretched so our wine service was a little slow.

Next two cruises were with the kids and we had a table for 4 with just us both times. It also seemed that the wine service was much better.

Next cruise... 4 of us will be joined by 4 other family members, so we'll get a table for 8?

Do you think I need to make any special request ahead of time to make sure we get good wine service??? Maybe the first cruise was just a fluke, because we had not other problems since then....

Any thoughts... from those of you who have done more Celebrity cruises.... is there any service difference between a table for 8 and a table for 4? Wine, Bar service or otherwise.

It doesn't matter if you have a table for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10. The wine steward has so many tables an people to serve and so do your waiter and asst. waiter.

You might be at a table for 4, but they may also have a table for 10 to serve. The wine stewards serve a greater number of tables (they have an area of the dining room) than the waiter & asst. waiter.

So it was just a fluke that you had such a difference in service.

We were at a table for 8 once and had excellent service - the best we have ever had. At the end of dinner when the wine steward came around with the bill, we asked her to cork our remaining wine for the next night. She told us that we had finished the bottle. We were amazed, but after we thought about it, everytime we took a sip of our wine, the glass was full.

I agree that it doesn't matter what size table you have. When the wine steward knows that your table is going to either be ordering wine or bringing your own...you'll get the attention needed. We've never had a problem, and if we did, we'd let the Maitre 'd know, so the matter would be resolved.
