Carnival Triumph or Carnival Valor??

I am looking to book my tenth cruise on Carnival. I have not been on the Triumph or the Valor. They both leave out of Miami (Triumph 8/25/07, Valor 8/26/07)and both go to Eastern Caribbean for 7 days. I have done my research on both ships and have sailed on the Conquest class (Liberty and Glory), but not on the Triumph class.

Does anyone have any opinions on these two ships and which one they would recommend?

If the Triumph's itinerary is the new one (Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas), I would (and did) pick that cruise over the Valor. We've been on the Triumph twice already (two different itineraries) and we narrowed it down this year to either the Valor or Triumph. We decided on Triumph over Valor because lots of ships have the other Eastern itinerary (St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Nassau). I do love the Conquest class ships, though and wish the Triumph had a supper club.

This is the trouble I am having because the new itinerary on the Triumph is a GREAT one. I LOVE Grand Turk. However, I really enjoyed that supper club on the Legend! I wonder if Carnival will ever consider adding supper clubs to the Triumph class.

Only you can decide on the importance of the ports versus the importance of the ship's facilities, but I have been on both ships and I much prefer the Valor. In addition to the supper club (which I always enjoy), the extra length of the ship means that the cigarette smoke from the casino does not travel all the way down the promenade deck, so the promenade deck was a much nicer place for my smoke-phobic family to hang out.

The Valor is significantly newer and it shows. But the Triumph is okay, too. Whatever you decide, have a great cruise!

My personal opinion would be to take the Valor unless you really like the Triumph's itinerary better. Frankly, St. Maarten is one of my favorite islands and San Juan is one of my least favorite, so I guess my bias is showing .... ;)

Same here! :p But I don't like Nassau any better than San Juan, so it's a trade off. Actually, though, we liked the idea of two beach days at ports that are new to us (HMC and Grand Turk), so that was the clincher. If we didn't like the Triumph, though, it would have been a no brainer because we all know that things can happen at the very last minute to change the itinerary (weather, mechanical issues, etc.).

Agreed definitely! But I enjoy Grand Turk over Nassau. Decisons, decisions...
