mueller74us Posted May 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2007 Can anyone tell me when things open up in Barbados? Our cruise has us in port at 9am on a Wednesday and I would like to go shopping/sightseeing (in what I would assume would be their downtown area) before our excursion. But we don't want to arrive at 9ish only to find out that things don't open until later. Thanks, Jennifer PS. Where is the shopping in Barbados? at the Dock? Sunniebgi Posted May 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2007 Most of the shops in Bridgetown open up around 8:00am or 8:30am..some maybe later but most around that time.. Much depends on what you are looking for, but I will say that shopping isn't all that great here. I guess possibly some of the duty free jewelry etc, but clothes - no.. for sure.. Sunniebgi Posted May 25, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2007 I would suggest staying close to the port by going just outside the port gate to the Pelican village shops.. Mostly artists and nick nacks..
cinnam0n Posted May 25, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2007 There is a passenger terminal that you have to pass through when you get off the ship that will be open very early (at least by 8AM). It is full of all kinds of shops, and there is an open air market right outside of it, also. I don't know where your cruise is going, but other islands are much better if you are just looking for inexpensive souveniers. The downtown area has a lot of stores, and you can get a cab there for a few dollars, but prices are pretty high.
