valancy1 Posted September 22, 2008 #1376 Share Posted September 22, 2008 I just got off the Liberty yesterday. You definitely have *not* DOWNgraded! I'm with Serene--why do you think you would have to "lower" your expectation? I am in the midst of writing a review with tons of pictures if you want to read it. This was a beautiful ship, the staff and service was impeccable. I couldn't imagine anything better, really!
DGP1111 Posted September 22, 2008 #1377 Share Posted September 22, 2008 I LOVE THIS SHIP! The staff are AMAZING! Alex is in the Golden dinning area, VERY FUN and friendly (not to mention hot;) ) Like Debra, above, I am also just off last week's sailing of Carnival Liberty, and I found the overall staff to be some of the friendliest I've ever met on a Carnival ship. And that makes for happier passengers. There were, however, two pursers who were bordering on being dumb as rocks, but they were so darn pleasant while being somewhat ignorant that you couldn't get upset with them. It was strange, but I found myself saying 'Thank You' to someone I wanted to chase with a stick.:p Maitre d', Alex, in the Golden DR was definitely friendly as described. I dined in the supper club on three evenings, but on the four nights I was in the main dining room, he visited our table (an 8-top of single cruisers) every evening without exception. That was a first for me on any CCL cruise, and just because he made that obvious effort, he received the largest tip I've ever given a MD on a cruise. Alex also conducted the galley tour I took, and he did a really nice job answering both tough and goober questions. With the exception of numerous carpets, and a few plumbing issues in spa and on Lido, this was not a ship what looked to be in need of its upcoming drydock. Because of that, I'm sure it will re-enter service being really nice and spiffy.
valancy1 Posted September 22, 2008 #1378 Share Posted September 22, 2008 Alex also conducted the galley tour I took, and he did a really nice job answering both tough and goober questions. Um, DON!! Where and when was the galley tour? HOW did I miss that?! I combed the Capers looking for it. Oh, now I *have* to go on another cruise so I can visit the galley. I really wanted to do that and figured it wasn't offered... Help?
Ohio Tealady Posted September 24, 2008 #1379 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Can you tell me where the self serve laundry areas are? I sailed two years ago and cannot remember. We will be on deck 1/Riveria, midship. Thanks
valancy1 Posted September 24, 2008 #1380 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Can you tell me where the self serve laundry areas are? I sailed two years ago and cannot remember. We will be on deck 1/Riveria, midship. Thanks I believe there is one on the 2nd deck. I also know there is one on 8. It seems to me that they are all on the starboard side of the ship. Inside your cabin there will be information that tells you what floor and near which cabins on those floors you can find laudry facilities. It is $2.00 for a wash and same for a dry. We did 2 loads of laundry and spent $8.00 in quarters. If you don't bring quarters, the purser's desk can trade you $10 for a roll of quarters. Hope that helps! SpacemanSpiff Posted September 24, 2008 #1381 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Hi everyoneI was hoping someone could answer this question. If you have an early flight out of FLL, and ask for early debark. will they always give you an early #? We sailed The Liberty back in Aug and were #16 and we were at the hotel by 9:20. We had no worries about making a flight. This time we can get a much better price if we take the 10:10 flight. I have a feeling it’s a little too early and we will probably go with the 12:00 flight. I just know it was so easy getting off. We just got off the Liberty last weekend, had a 1:00 flight out of FLL. We were assigned group #6, but went to the purser's desk and they changed it to #2. We were off the ship at 8am (just after the initial wave of self-embarkments, which started at 7:45). The problem we had was in clearing customs - we got our luggage in short order, but Murphy kicked in at the customs line we got into (two groups ahead of us took a fair amount of time, and another one was escorted away by a big and burly type to the "back room.") Mind you, we'd purchased the Carnival transfers, which were pretty efficient, despite what you may have heard; we were at the airport and checked in before 10:00am. Did this change?> there were signs in the check in area that they are now checking if for flights for such -such times.. people who were chekcing in for later fligths were directed to a sitting area to wait

Maybe that is a way they are dealing with the problem. At most airports I have flown out of you can check luggage much earlier than just 2 hours. valancy1 Posted October 1, 2008 #1388 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Hi all,How is the supper club on the Liberty? Any good/bad feedback? It was phenomenal. If you want, you can go see pictures of Harry's in my Liberty 9-13-2008 Review, including table settings, decor, food, etc. We eat in luxury restaurants regularly--at least once a month--with fine wines and delicious foods. I can honestly say that the food at Harry's, including the service, was at LEAST "as fine" but leaning more toward "FINER" than the service we receive at even a couple 4-star restaurants that we've dined in. Their menu is highly beef related: 28-oz. porterhouse 18-oz. prime rib 9-oz. filet mignon (which was probably the best filet I've ever tasted) Surf & turf Lobster tail Etc. The cost is $30/pp NO MATTER WHAT YOU ORDER (alcohol, as always, is additional but reasonable). It's a fabulous value. The beef is all CHOICE which is better than (a grade up from) PRIME. I hope you go. You can even make your reservations ahead of time: http://surv.cheetahmail.com/s?aid=982238741&o=1&n=28 We did this back when John Heald had his own link and it didn't look like Carnival. We got to the ship and sure enough, there we were--reserved for 7 pm on the day we requested. ENJOY Harry's! I don't think you'll be sorry! Most recently, I could check my luggage in quite far in advance, but had to remain in the main seating area (near ticketing). I could not access the concourse seating area (at the gate) until much closer to the flight. But since FLL has free wifi, I am always able to keep myself entertained. :)
WHENNEY Posted October 1, 2008 #1390 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Hi, I leave in 3 weeks to cruise on the Liberty. We will be cruising over Halloween. Are there any special events taking place? Should the kids bring costumes? Is there trick-or-treating on the boat? Is the boat decorated? sorry for so many questions, this is my first cruise and I can't wait. Thanks! Aurori Posted October 1, 2008 #1391 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Hi all,How is the supper club on the Liberty? Any good/bad feedback? Excellent. If you go on the Liberty and you skip the supper club you are simply missing out! Everything we were served was wonderful. I wouldnt say the filet was the best i'd ever had like the above poster, but it was indeed tender and delicious. Hope this helps!

valancy1 Posted October 2, 2008 #1394 Share Posted October 2, 2008 Is the supper club all you can eat? Well if you can eat 3 courses PLUS a 28-oz porterhouse, maybe they'd let you have more. :D I don't know if you can choose more than one entree--I would think not. There is PLLLLLENTY of food. You will be stuffed to the gills when you're finished.
SpacemanSpiff Posted October 2, 2008 #1395 Share Posted October 2, 2008 Is the supper club all you can eat? I've read it's not. They offer a "surf and turf" combo, but it's a half-size portion of the lobster tail and filet servings. As Valency1 said, you can definitely fill up on what they have. The filet (what I had) was 9 oz., the NY strip was 14 oz., and the porterhouse was huge.

I think it depends on the airline. Last year I saw more people sitting around in the halls with their luggage. We checked in and then went for an early lunch at Chilli's for an hour (since Skyservice only gives you a free drink), then went through security and played with the free wi-fi before the flight. serene56 Posted October 2, 2008 #1397 Share Posted October 2, 2008 Supper CLubs are not all you can eat- (bet you can hardly eat what you get served--you will be rolled outta there) Portions are bigger in the supper club compared to the dining room. You get one appetizer, 1 soup/salad, one entree and one dessert. (drinks are extra) Few people state they were able to order two appetizers Most say they can not--depends on the server and it is rare.

It depends--not all OBC is equal, Some credits can be used for the casino and tips-- where others is stated that it can not. You also want to ask your agent if the amount is not used will you get a refund--some OBC is non refundable. IF it is== you get a check on the last morning which you can cash at the pursers desk. Yes- the OBC can be used at the SupperClub-- if tipping is not allowed with your credit--- then you tip in cash. You dont do anythng at all- your OBC will show up on the tv under your account by the 1st full day of sailing--if it doesnt show up-- take the confirmation re the obc to the pursers desk so it can be applied
