Lotteryfan Posted June 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Hello. I can't tell you enough about how much I am enjoying my week on the Dawn. Embarkation was a breeze this past Saturday as there were no lines. Sunday was a great day at sea. Nassau is a lot closer to New York than I imagined as it didn't take us long to get here. Played Bingo and won. Strangely though I was the only one playing. Monday we walked around Nassau. It reminded me so much of Boston. On Tuesday we were suppose to have another sea day on our way to Great Stirrup Cay but the ride was so smooth I could swear that the ship didn't even move. The one thing that has been lacking, however, is the food. I can't quite seem to figure out when they serve it. I also keep missing the band for that matter. I have done a lot of reading by the pool which has also been empty. It's like I'm the only one on the ship. I'll write again later.
Jana Posted June 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2007 That's so strange. I'm on the same trip and I haven't seen you either. I boarded on Sunday, though, so my voyage to Nassau was even shorter than yours. Jana

shoreguy Posted June 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Listen while you 2 are on the boat alone could you make sure they make it as beautiful as it is so I can enjoy my trip this sat (ha ha)Actually Im going on June 30th cant wait to see what if anything they have done to the ship:) I would be worried. I have friends onboard as well. The ship is a mess. The carpet outside their penthouse is all torn up. They are very upset as the whole ship smells of paint and it has made them feel ill. They have been sleeping on the balcony. Their butler has been invisible. Apparently they are having Azipod problems again as the Dawn has not left the dock in days. In fact it looks to my friends as if the ship has run aground. They report this is the worst of the 2883 cruises they have been on. The told me they will never cruise with NCL again  At least the weather has been good

Lotteryfan Posted June 1, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Hello Everyone Again, I think there has been more responses in this thread than the people I've seen on the ship. Its no wonder NCL is losing so much money; they are having trouble selling out the ship. I thought I smelled some paint but I thought it was coming from one of the arts and crafts sessions they had. Although I did look for that but couldn't find it. The maid service has been very bad which surprises me. In all the cruises I've taken I've never seen the service so bad. I'm going to recommend that they get rid of that person. My bed is never made in the morning nor turned down at night. I never seem to get clean towels and I'm afraid because the toilet paper is running low. However, they use two-ply so I'm pulling them apart to make it last longer. As per the food situation: I still can't find anything to eat and I'm afraid I'm losing weight. Who goes on a cruise and loses weight? I keep calling room service but the telephone just keeps ringing all day long. They must be very busy. There have been some great things happening, however. There haven't been any chair hogs which is a first. The photographer hasn't bothered me once to take a picture although I wish there was someone when I first embarked on the ship. I like to purchase those pictures. All in all, if there isn't some excitement on this ship soon I may have to write a letter to Colin.

Kat, I believe it was Henry Ford that first said it, but I read Zig Zigglar uses it in his speeches also. http://thinkexist.com/quotation/whether_you_think_that_you_can-or_that_you_can-t/7814.html I'm heading for NH today and might swing by to take some pics of the Dawn if the traffic isn't too bad. Friday traffic in Boston isn't fun! Maybe I can use on of my old cards and get on to keep Lotteryfan and Jana company.... ;) I'll bring food!!! :D Jackie

Are they ruining the ambiance Is the casino smokey ? Even if there is no food is 1/2 price at the specialty restaurants available ? Did they take your booze when your boarded ? Did you bring a giant box-o-wine - how much was the corkage ? Are there any kids onboard - how much trouble are they causing ? Is the spa open and is it free ? I am sure I will come up with more questions. Thanks

cruisingfromMN Posted June 1, 2007 #17 Share Posted June 1, 2007 I have another question... After a long day in port of site seeing and several hours in the sun at the beach with my two year old, can I bring him to Le Bistro? Oh, and can he wear a diaper in the hot tub? Rare Smellytoes Posted June 1, 2007 #18 Share Posted June 1, 2007 As Yoda will say, "Don't try, do!" ;) I'm expecting some photos. I would love to get you some pics. Unfortunately, my brand-new digital camera went swimming with the dolphins in Jamaica:mad: . I'll try to get to my mother's and grab one of her's. Claudio says we wouldn't recognize the place. The inside is all covered with plastic. It should look great though for those leaving in the next few weeks.:)
Sea Hound Posted June 1, 2007 #19 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Since there are so few on the cruise, when you take the bridge tour, see if they'll let you navigate the ship for a while:D ! Or is that what got you to your present location:eek: ??!?!? Thanks for the chuckle! Sea Hound:D
