Advice on where to snorkel

We will be stopping in Costa Maya, Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman - does anyone have advice on where I'd find the best snorkeling? If I had to guess I would say Grand Cayman? If that's correct - does anyone know of a particular spot that we should try for? Ideally we'd like somewhere that you can enter from the beach if possible.

You are correct, Grand Cayman will have the better snorkeling. Many cruisers appreciate the short walk from where the tenders dock to Eden Rock for snorkeling.

Easy and free to snorkel there if you have your own gear. There are 2 dive shops near by for anything you need to rent.

Thanks for the advice - I don't have my own gear yet but am definitely thinking of purchasing my own before our next trip. We had to rent it last time and I don't want to think about the whole issue on whether that stuff gets cleaned or not, lol

We went snorkeling in Grand Cayman this past January and it was great! We saw so many different types of fish and a nurse shark. We are also planning to buy our own gear now that we are completely hooked on snorkeling and cruising...we're planning our 3rd cruise now. By the way, I'm also a hockey mom!

Well Hello to a fellow hockey mom!:) Thanks for the advice - where in GC did you go for snorkeling??

And by the way - how old are your kids that play?

I go to Eden rock every time I am in GC, even if it's for 30 mins. Clear water and nice scenery, sometimes a little choppy. I have also done a shore dive there that was very nice. It's free and they have a shower outside when you are through.
