hajekfam Posted June 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2007 I just was going looking at the Celebrity FAQ's and noticed a topic that I hadn't seen before: Can Celebrity deny Bookings, Shore and Land Excursion or even Transfer?Subject: General Guest Policies Celebrity Cruises reserves the right to refuse to accept a booking request from an individual or group and reserve the right to cancel an existing reservation. Furthermore, a guest may be removed from the vessel where, in the opinion of the ship's captain, a guest is unfit for travel or a risk or danger to himself or herself or a disturbance or danger to others. bububr Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 JMHO As far as I can see this is the result of the letterwriting campaign after the infamous 'Bear' cruise on RCCL last year. From what I have heard many of the gay groups which had booked cabins have been cancelled. Unfortunately there are bad apples in every group, however I doubt RCCL/X will be cancelling or denying bookings to the bridge clubs, or any 'Family Values' group regardless of any bad behavior they may exhibit. I truly believe the individual that is the problem should be punnished, not the group they are associated with. Basically RCCL/X has just written legal discrimination into their policy. Makes me wonder if I should continue to sail them and not look for another line. Dave:eek:

hajekfam Posted June 6, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted June 6, 2007 Dave - I knew the cruiseline always had that right to refuse a passenger boarding or kick off a passenger - (it's in the cruise contract with the small print that no one reads) - but this is the first time I have seen it spelled out on their web page as an FAQ question and answer. I figured something must have caused Celebrity to post it on their website. I also don't know what the infamous "bear" cruise was.

bububr Posted June 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 6, 2007 A gay group booked a RCCL ship. The ship closed off venues as it does for everyone who books a group, but because the passengers were publically being affectionate ( kissing, holding hands, etc ), a few of the passengers got VERY upset that there were children onboard and this should not be allowed. The icing on the cake was when the solarium was barracaded by staff to prevent passengers from looking in, this was done in response to the PDA's. So many of the passengers felt they were denied usage of the adult pool area, when infact they were not. So RCCL was trying to 'protect' the children. security was posted outside the entrance and no one under 18 was allowed in. This WAS a huge thread that caused lots of fights over on the RCCL boards. Basically the complaints said that men were having sex in public ( from what I heard it was just kissing ), they were dressed inappropriately ( wearing speedos, thongs, and some in drag ) to be on a FAMILY cruiseline, and that they filmed some sort of a porno movie on board, although this has never been proven. Basically there were a lot of conservative church going families onboard with children that felt that allowing a gay group onboard was a violation of their principles and that they would get their groups to boycott RCCL unless something was done about it. Personally I don't like to see blatant PDAs between anybody, but on a ship with newlyweds, and others its bound to happen. Heck I can't walk down the street or go to the mall without seeing somebody with their hands down someone elses pants, or sucking face nowadays, but just because its 2 men or 2 women shouldn't make it any worse than a man and a woman. BTW: much of the threads on RCCL were either locked or deleted which in the end may have been a good thing. Unfortunately after this incident, other lines started recieving complaints from current or future passengers that were concerned about the same thing.... some info: http://nationalgaynews.com/content/view/165/173/ http://www.theroyalgazette.com/siftology.royalgazette/Article/article.jsp?articleId=7d7492330030000§ionId=60 Dave:eek:
