Louisana cruiser Posted June 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2007 I read the below (in italics) at the Turkish Embassy site today. Does anyone know anything about this? No one in my group did, and we don't know what to do to get this certificate before we leave. Note: Cellular Telephones entering the country must be accompanied by a certification form showing ownership. Ownership must be documented in the passport of the owner and will be checked on entry and exit. For more information contact the Ministry of Transportation, General Directorate at Tel: (312) 212 35 72 - 212 60 10 (10 lines), Fax: (312) 221 32 26 or write to Ulastirma Bakanligi Telsiz Gn. Md. Emek - Ankara. I called the 1st number above, and I get a message from a girl who is currently in Russia - no official dept. mentioned. I get a recording when I call the 2nd number that the phone is having problems. I guess my next attempt will be to fax. I'll also contact my guide in Istanbul on this. martyap Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 I used my cell phone in Turkey last October w/o any problem. I had an unlocked quad Motorola Razr with a United Mobile sim. I had read that but I believe it is for Turkish residents. Check on http://www.tripadvisor.com (Istanbul forum) for an exact answer. No questions were asked at passport control.
