Okay as you can see i am booked for the Fantasy in Sept. I have been since the first of Feb. ( must time move so slow??!) Anyway I am a first time cruisier and i am totally looking forward to it. What i need from you seasoned crusiers is what all do i need to do on the ship? What drinks to have, what shows to see. Everyting that is a must to make it a "fantasy" come true. :D

Sept is nothing, thats right around the corner. This year is half way over, try booking over a year out, then write about it.

305 days left.

Awww...The Fantasy was my first cruise. You'll have a blast. You have to have at least one slice of pizza. Go to karaoke at least once. Have a Miami Vice (half strawberry daiquari/half pina colada). Don't sit in the front row at the comedian shows.Unless you want to get picked on. Don't sit in the front row of the Broadway style shows, just in case you have to laugh or leave.

Most of all have fun:D

Ahhhh, the Fanasty was my first cruise and my kids first cruise. Wonderful ship indeed.

What I learned from my first two Fanasty cruises is it goes too darn fast. I tried to do everything and was exhausted at the end. What I can tell you that I didn't on the first couple of cruises is:

  • Room service is included, no need to go hungry
  • Never drink too much in the afternoon (not good to pass out at 4:00 pm)
  • Can't decide on what to have for dinner? Order both.
  • Plan the next cruise soon after getting off ship (even if it is years out).
  • If the ship be rockin', don't come knockin'

That is what that drink is called!!! I asked someone who had it on the ship and they did not know what it was called. I will have to keep that in mind when I book my next cruise. I just went on the Fantasy(first cruise) 5/14 and had a blast. The first night going out of the miss river was a little rough, but took bonine and did ok. As for the OP, enjoy and relax and you will have a blast. Time flew by for us, we would say to ourselves, we want to be at this show or event and then before you knew it, the time had passed. It was a fantasy for us. I became a little down:( about a week after I got home, I dream about it nightly, it is driving me nuts. I guess I will have to book another one, I booked my first one 14 months in advance, and I thought that wait was bad!! LOL I want to be back in paradise!!! Have a great time!!! and thanks for the name of that drink!!

As MrPete said READ THE CAPERS! We were so excited on out first cruise last year that we wore ourselves out during the day exploring the Holiday(which is not a large ship) that we crashed early on Sea Days.

Rule #1: Pace yourself. Do not think you have to see everything. Just rebook.

Rule #2: Highlight the shows in the Capers you want to attend. If you miss a show don't worry about it, just rebook.

Rule #3: Take cat-naps. You are going to need to reserve energy for the evening. If you are in bed at 8pm you are going to miss alot and have to rebook.

Rule #4: Order whatever and as much as you want in the dining room.

Rule #5: Forget the rules and have fun. Just remember to book another cruise as soon as you disembark.

It is really hard to tell others what to do on a cruise. While on the ship, some like to try to do EVERYTHING and some like to relax! Me? I like a little of both! A relaxes pace makes it a vacation to DH and I. He has a very stressful job, going on cruises is the ONLY vacation he takes that he is allowed to leave his 2 pages and 2 cell phones AT HOME! We sleep in a little, have breakfast on our balcony, walk the decks, I go to the pools, he finds a quiet place to read. We lunch, have a beverage or 2. or if a port day We go ashore after breakfast and usually take one tour and then shop and have lunch, explore the town and go back aboard. We do not rush and cram everything in at once. We figure we will be back again! We usually have a nap before our late dinner seating. We love the dinners and we love formal nights. We REALLY dislike those that cannot follow the rules. It is fine if you do not want to dress up, eat somewhere else. The shows are often very nice. After dinner we like to have an after dinner drink in one of the quiet bars to settle our dinner. Then we will see a show sometimes or (often) go to the casino. Hit some bars, like the piano bar and eventually go to bed.

If you have camera and cell phone, perhaps 2 way radios that need to be recharged I suggest a power strip as a helpful item. I always take my own hairdryer. If you like extra pillows, etc. be sure to ask your room steward the first day, he/she will most likely keep them there for you all week.

Carnival is a nice cruise line, they will not pamper you as much as most of the others, and the food is not quite as good as some of the others. But we have had a really good time on our 2 CCL cruises. So have a great cruise! You will LOVE IT!
