immargaret Posted August 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2004 Hi Michelle, When are you cruising? I will be on the 8/29 sailing of the Majesty with my 15 year old daughter. This will be our 4th cruise on NCL, but the first time on the Majesty. My daughter has never had a problem finding things to do on the ship, or other teens to hang out with. Usually she only attends the first formal teen club meeting, just to meet everyone. The majesty has basketball, ping pong, hot tubs, swimming pools, shows, dances, kareoke, and an arcade among other things that I can't think of tonight. immargaret Posted August 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2004 Hi Stephen/Debbie, The cruise is getting closer and closer, but it still feels like it is so far away. I'm still waiting for the tickets to arrive. Margaret
SOS Posted August 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2004 We will be traveling with our teenage boys in March on the Majesty. One of our sons loves basketball. Could someone let me us know if there really is a basketball court on the Majesty. I don't recall reading about this ship having one. This would really put him over the moon if there really was a basketball court on the ship. Thanks!!!
macdays1 Posted August 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2004 This is from a TA website. With all the guidelines and all, I'm not sure whether to mention them or not. I just thought it might be helpful. Norwegian Majesty This classy, comfortable ship features two show lounges, a casino and cozy nooks such as the intimate Polo Club piano bar. The Royal Observatory has comfortable seating and wraparound windows. Clean, contemporary lines give the pool area a soothing, serene appearance; the youngest cruisers gather one deck below in the Kids Korner and children's splash pool. A jogging/walking track encircles the Promenade Deck, and the spa encloses a fitness center, aerobics area and sauna and massage rooms. Restaurants include the Seven Seas Dining Room and the smaller Four Seasons Dining Room; Le Bistro is an alternative restaurant with a French cafe atmosphere. immargaret Posted August 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2004 Thanks for the information Macdays1 I was thinking there was a basketball court after looking at pictures someone posted at webshots from their cruise. When I went back and looked again they had been on 2 cruises and I think a few of their pictures were in the wrong albums. Since you have been on the Majesty several times do you remember seeing ping pong tables? Thanks, Margaret
Fam of 5 Posted August 13, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2004 We're leaving Sunday on the Majesty with 9 13 & 14 y.o's. I'll look in to all the stuff you are asking and hopefully come back with a shining review.

Welove2cruise2 Posted August 14, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2004 There are ping pong (table tennis) tables on the Majesty - don't recall seeing basketball courts anywhere. I recall they were having table tennis matches -- seems to me they were on 8 or 9 aft?

Fam of 5 Posted August 24, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 24, 2004 The cruise was perfect. The teen program was good. There were scavenger hunts, dances etc. They met alot of good kids and enjoyed most of the organized activities, some didn't have a great turnout so they came and hung out with us. You will have so much fun. Let me know if you have nay questions and I'll be sure to answer them
kingcat Posted August 25, 2004 #16 Share Posted August 25, 2004 14 year old girl and 18 year old boy. There certainly were quite a few teenagers on the ship, but while we all enjyed the cruise a great deal, there were really very few organized teen activities that we found. The 18 year old is really too old for so called "teen program". On the first evening there was a meeting for teens and their parents - it was stated that parents MUST attend. Our younger kid refused to go if we did, so one of us went alone. Were disappointed to see that the teen activities were really suggestions for where teens could attend adult-activities rather than specific dances, gatherings, etc for teens. We had hoped to find a teen room - or at least a room designated for teens for part of the day. Nothing like that. We explored the entire ship, and I never saw any ping pong tables. Arcade is a very small room with maybe 6-10 machines. No one under age of 16 allowed in fitness center (which is also small). This was not enforced by cruiseline but by fellow cruisers, since number of machines available is minimal and saw others getting at least dirty looks and some comments if user appeared under 16. (Our dtr did not try to use machines - we told her rules were rules) I know I sound very negative, but, again, we all had a great time. Teens were surprisingly willing to hang out with us, played Bingo with us, ate a lot, read, swam, sunned. They both loved Bermuda. But a teen hang-out type place might have added a little to their experience. If passenger is under 21, NCL key card gets hole punched in it indicating do not serve alcohol. Drinking age in Bermuda is 18 and I sense this is more loosely enforced than in US
Fam of 5 Posted August 26, 2004 #17 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Kingcat, The Ping Pong tables were on deck 8. We had our 13 & 14 y.o.'s and they were involved in several organized activities. They held dances in the Palace Theatre after the last show, the bar was closed to everything except soda, they did Karaoke in the other lounge before it was adult time. And a couple of scavenger hunts which were fun. Pretty much all activities ended at 1:00 a.m. where we would find them chatting with Anita at the pursers desk telling them all about South Aftrica. My 9 y.o. was not very impressed with her age activities, many of the kids were much younger, so she hung with us. I can see your 18 y.o. not wanting to hang around with 13 & 14 y.o.'s. I am happy that you all had a good time.
Tomct Posted May 16, 2005 #18 Share Posted May 16, 2005 I'm getting ready for our upcoming Majesty cruise, and have a couple of teens with us. I'm sure I saw this thread last year, but was more interested in issues that impacted our decisons on Majesty vs. Crown at that time. I thought this thread might be helpful to others, so have given it a boost.
BellaOnline Posted May 18, 2005 #19 Share Posted May 18, 2005 We'll be going in August with 7 teens - 3 triplets that are 17, 3 boys that are 16, and then one boy that is 13. I really don't think they'd be happy in a teen program, and the pool looked really tiny. I imagine it'll be full of people most of the time. So I'm sort of assuming they're just going to have to 'make do' on the 2 days that we are going to and from Bermuda - but that once we get there they can be off snorkelling and fishing. The arcade costs money, and I'd rather just bring along a playstation 2 vs having them pour hundreds of dollars into a machine :)
pathubia Posted May 18, 2005 #20 Share Posted May 18, 2005 The pool does get pretty crowded in August. Which week are you going we will be onboard 08-28. Some schools will be open that week, maybe that will cut into the crowds. We have all girls traveling with us, 18, 17, 12, 12, 11, 10. Its funny I didnt realize that it was all girls till just now, LOL. Patty
BellaOnline Posted May 18, 2005 #21 Share Posted May 18, 2005 We'll just miss you, we will be on the first week in August. Out of all the kids, only one of the triplets is a girl :) Oh I thought you meant you'd be on from 8/8-8/28. I guess we will miss you by a few weeks :)
