What to do in Sardinia

My husband and I will be sailing on the Navigator of the Seas in July. We dock in Sardinai at 12 noon. Suggestions on what to do in Sardinia. Should we sign up for a city tour with the cruise line or will we be able to get a taxi and do our own touring of the area.
