Warning about alternative tour operators

Recommended Posts

In Saint John today I noticed locals offering excursions in their private vehicles to cruise ship passengers along Water St. Although they are much cheaper than licenced tour operators, they most likely do not have the required commercial insurance for their vehicle - so if you hire them as a tour guide and you are in an unfortunate situation like an accident, their insurance will not cover you - and equally worse, they are not protected from liability. So as good-hearted as they are, keep this in mind and ask them to see their commercial insurance policy. Tours offered by the ship, local tour operators and taxis have this insurance.
