Winterstale Posted June 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2007 Hi all - just found these boards! I am normally a Windjammer sailor (3 so far...) but I'm booking a 3 night Carnival Paradise sailing with a galfriend (told hubbies we needed a girls weekend :D ) . Anybody cruise the Paradise recently? Advice? Words of wisdom? Recommendations? It's a really great location for us because we live right in L.A. so it sure beats Palm Springs and I've done Vegas to death...just want to make sure we're going to enjoy it! I've read some good things about the ship on the this website. Will we be okay in an interior? We're trying to keep the cost down...
caribbean dreams Posted June 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2007 I think it ready depends when you want to go, the 3 day sailing can be a booze cruise at times.
mob909 Posted June 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2007 Hey there. I was just on the Paradise in January. It was a great ship. I went on the four day but have been on other three days on Carnival as well. It is just to short for me but it is great fun. The food and service was great as well. This was my 15 cruise on carnival and I have no compliants. Leaving from Long Beach is very easy. It is set up nicely. The port of San Pedro where RCCL leaves from isnt as efficient as Long Beach in my opinion. Cody

Since you mentioned Vegas and Palm Springs I would say that would be a good description of the 3 day Paradise cruise. You get the casino/party atmosphere like Vegas and the lounging around the pool with drinks like Palm Springs....Best of both worlds in one:)
Winterstale Posted June 16, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted June 16, 2007 Thanks! We will not be bringing kids with us -- is the ship adult-friendly? I think I read someplace that one of the pool areas is adults only, but I wasn't sure. Not that we don't like kids, mind you - we just don't want to hang out with toddlers on girls weekend :D if we don't have to. Not really big on a "booze cruise" environment...but if it's like Vegas, I think we'll be okay...
Winterstale Posted June 16, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted June 16, 2007 P.S. - mob909 - glad to hear the ship itself is nice! So far I haven't read too much that's bad about it - I'm sure for a three-day trip, we'll be fine!
southbayer Posted June 16, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2007 You will love the Paradise. She is a nice sized ship, with a great shopping itinenary. Hi all - just found these boards! abitaturbodog Posted June 16, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2007 If you're a Windjammer fan, then you should like the party atmosphere of the 3-day cruises! Go ahead an book the interior room if you're trying to save $. But if you can afford it, having windows in your cabin makes a lot of difference. Winterstale Posted June 25, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Yes, I've sailed the Mandalay 3 times now - with bunk beds and a porthole for a window - I'm NOT fussy when it comes to cabins - I'm never in it. WJ is actually a pretty peaceful experience - the Polynesia has the party boat rep :D - we just came back from sailing the San Blas islands - uninhabited islands off the coast of Panama in the Caribbean....unbelievable! Only 45 of us on board...it was like having a private 236 foot charter sail :D We were likely family by the time we returned and it was a VERY sedate, relaxing trip! Like being on a National Geographic trip.
