Buying Contact Lenses

I saw a thread either here or on the Cozumel page where people were discussing how you can by prescriptions at a discount at pharmacies in Mexico. Does anyone know if you can also get name brand contacts at a discount?

I thought the pharmacies charged more in Mexico for narcotic prescription drugs. I do better in the US with my Doctors prescription for generic pain killers or generic Valium.

Cozumel is very very high, so be sure to go knowing what your local pharmacy charges. The pharmacies by the cruise docks are the highest, even Belize was very expensive.

 

I did get lucky in Merida (Progresso). The Pharmacist sold me some Mexican generic valium for less than US price. I have only taken one of them since my April cruise, but it worked fine - just like my prescription Valium.

 

I am going to St. Thomas/Tortola next month and will check out the prices there.

 

I never tried contact lenses so I think I will see what they charge when I go.
