windermere Posted June 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Hi All, Going on a Birthday weekend cruise in Sept. We booked the wine & cheese farm tour. What else would you suggest to do or see in Nanaimo? Thank You.
BCHappyGal Posted June 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2007 rent a car & drive south to Chemanius the little town that "Did" Many years ago when the towns only industry (mill) closed the town was about to close too! However the townspeople got together and said what can we do to create an economy for ourselves. They looked to tourism and created a draw by painting murals on the exterior walls of the towns buildings. Every mural is painted by a different artist. It is fun to wander and view the art + enjoy poking around the quaint shops, tea rooms, ice cream parlours etc.
LeftcoastBC Posted June 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2007 Nanaimo has spent a lot of money and time on their harbour and you will be able to spend a lot of time just walking around if you into that. There is a "Cave" exploration trip that friends found very interesting and a trip to the "Cathedral Grove" a great set of trees.
